Elvis has the most with 18.

Edit - Also the comment about Wham made me realise that for the longest time Last Christmas was the highest selling single not to go to number 1, but now it looks entirely possible that it could have the most weeks at number 1 by any single ever by the end of the 2020s if it carries on at its current rate

As of last year, so do The Beatles!

It's kind of crazy how Bieber is now so high with 38 weeks, considering he only got his first one in 2015 and that felt like a long time coming for him!

Bieber also got lucky with his features. If we only counted songs where he's a lead artist, that 38 weeks drops down to 13 weeks - the remaining 25 weeks comes from songs he's featured on!

Elvis has the most with 18.

21 if you count his re-issues though it's debatable whether you should.

After the Beatles with 18, Westlife are then tied with Ed Sheeran and Cliff Richard all on 14, while Madonna's on 13 and Take That on 12.

Multiple 1’s list

Elvis & The Beatles - 18

Westlife &Ed Sheeran & Cliff Richard - 14

Madonna - 13

Take That - 12

Eminem & Calvin Harris - 11

Elton John - 10

Spice Girls & Rihanna & ABBA - 9

Oasis &Sam Smith &The Rolling Stones - 8

Elvis is on 21 per the OCC

as those 2025 singles were re-issues, had a different catalog number etc so count as a different release per the occ not as re-entries of the old 60s songs

Yeah the OCC do count them twice... whether they should or not is debatable, I personally think of it as 18 different songs as nothing was changed about them and I think it's fine to have different numbers whether you're talking about #1 releases or #1 songs.

Until 2007 it was very clearly a SINGLES chart where each product needed to have a formal release and a serial number etc. Now what we have is really a SONGS chart. The Elvis ones certainly wouldn’t have been counted as new #1s by the OCC if the re-issues had happpened now, or any time since the download era. So to be consistent across the whole chart history I don’t count them as separate Number 1s.

for me, when a label re-released the track with new format etc new number, that's a re-issue, a different entry

like last week with Oasis going back to the top 10, that's a re-entry, not a re-issue

like Madonna and Holiday or Crazy for You, that's not a re-entry, that's a re-issue

Who really cares about catalogue numbers it’s the same song

That seems irrelevant to me ngl. If it’s the same song it shouldn’t count as a different number 1

Some positive movement!! :yahoo:

I was expecting more of an increase from Eminem following the physicals
Bryan Adams isn’t in the top 20? Even with the longest ever #1?

Surprisingly, he has only had 2 Number Ones. 16 weeks with the Robin Hood song and a single week with a song I'd guess most casual Bryan Adams fans wouldn't even think of when listing out his signature tunes...His collaboration with Chicane on Don't Give Up.

JADE getting that final week inside the top 20 before she's put to ACR and drops out of the top 50!

:cheeseblock:

9 weeks in the top 25 with 6 being in the top 20 (woulda been 8 in the top 20 had Oasis not announced a surprise reunion and threw a random spanner in the works - shut up I'm taking it!!!!!!!!!)! So much more than I expected from this!
