With 'Sailor Song' finally set to reach #1 tomorrow, I thought I'd look up what others songs have charted which are just called "something" Song (without the word 'The' at the start, as that adds loads more). I've limited it to top ten hits to keep the list a manageable size. There are some pretty decent songs in the list as well as a couple of howlers but let's find out which one is Buzzjack's favourite.

I'm not a big fan of 'Sailor Song' personally but there's plenty I like from the list including Rita Ora, JP Cooper, Michael Jackson, Sisqo, Radiohead and John Denver!

Love Song for me, the story of it being about being tired of her label demanding a love song and replying with basically "drop me if you have to, I'm not writing you a freaking love song" and the label loving it and it becoming her biggest hit ever is just too good

JP Cooper, Kelly, Ellie, Sara, MJ and Elton.

Me now realising Alessandro Safina had a UK Top 40 hit to his name but in fairness I never heard anything of his until his entry from BJSC last year!

Earth Song by a mile.

Also votes Rachel Platten, Sara Bareilles and The Cheekies :bratcheeseblock:

Pyramid (best), also Earth, Annie's and Wombling.

Honourable mention to Thong which narrowly missed out on my votes.

Voted for John Denver, Howard Jones, JP Cooper and Sisqo.

Is it just me or is Annie's Song melodically reminscent of the intro and outro of Fairytale of New York?!

Lol at the preview just saying "What's your favourite top" in the forum index! :heehee:

I went for my top 5 and it seems to be all the ones currently in double figures apart from “Earth Song”

Pyramid Song

Your Song (Elton original)

Annie’s Song

September Song

Love Song

Used to really like Earth Song but I thought it was quite uncool to like it now* (good lyrical message but overblown melodramatic production and vocal style).

*Clearly not if it's in the lead!
