if it's physicals giving Mariah a boost tonight I expect Wham! are still the frontrunners for the week then?

Still think Gracie will get it personally

Isn't Amazon a bit more "on it" in terms of declaring data to the OCC which is why their exclusives appear higher in the mids before dropping back slightly at the end of the week? (Yes, I know Alexa auto-payola plays a huge part in its position).

It would be good if an Amazon Exclusive like some of the previous "big hitters" returned to the charts, especially given their exposure increasing with releases on other platforms (just shows how fake everything is eh).

Yes - Apple, Spotify and YouTube are typically a day late in reporting data to the OCC, whereas Amazon tend to be on time, which is why their exclusives appear hugely inflated at the start of the week and end up with significant drops by Friday!

amazed the OCC trusts the Amazon data around Xmas time, Alexa-generated streams shouldn't count
Surprised Mariah didn’t postpone the release of her physicals by a week to contend for Christmas #1

Same record company as Wham! so they release on different dates.

Do wonder if it was people’s favourite artists recording an Amazon song whether the comments would be so snarky! Buzzjack has a weird thing against male artists or is that just me? Teddy Swims, Ed Sheeran, Lewis Capaldi, Tom Grennan, Sam Ryder all fantastic imo

Ellie Goulding, Jess Glynne, Lizzo and Jorja Smith have all scored top 40 hits with Amazon exclusives at Christmas and none were revered (and three of those four artists tend to be quite well liked on here).

(and the site's taste generally does skew female, which is nothing new, it's just a demographic thing!)

That’s fair, I have quite a wide taste and don’t have any hate for any artists, some I like less than others but prefer to promote the ones I like! Massive Charli, Chappell, Dua Lipa, Sabrina, Taylor and Olivia fan!

I wonder if Sabrina will make the top 10 with any of her Christmas songs.
Kelly better rise into the top 10 by the end of the week! It grates on me that Ariana's always does just that bit better when Underneath the tree is a vastly superior song! Both are incredible vocalists but Underneath the tree and One more sleep are the best Xmas songs since Mariah's!

what I don't get is why Mariah released so many formats when only 3 are elegible, the other are lost for chart purposes

she could at least have released 3 this week and 3 next week

Hope Laufey doesn’t as would like her to get top 10 and as an as yet unestablished Xmas song might be its only chance!

She took her shot and got a lot of Netflix success in the process, but it hasn't translated to streaming success. My thoughts are that she might do well on the albums chart, but this year the only chance she has on the singles chart is if they release the Last Christmas cover that she did with Chappell

‘A Nonsense Christmas’ done almost 300k on Spotify yesterday, also remembering that has the boost of being on SCR, I think that could go top 10 this year

Imagine if they surprise drop that on Christmas week and it becomes a totally unexpected Christmas number one. I wish record companies had the balls to do that sort of thing!

We can only dream! :cheeseblock: We would probably get a Last Christmas top 2. A very similar situation to 2008. :P
