Wishing everyone a very merry Christmas!! See you all on Friday hopefully for the Chart of the Year from 2pm to 6pm (further details to come!), and it appears there's no First Look next Sunday unfortunately.

A very merry Christmas to you all, many thanks to the chart mods for your work throughout the year.
Go Tom but sadly I think he’ll be overtaken by Wham later in the week.

Great to see Tom at #1 - with only a 500 sale lead let’s see what Alexa can do!

And  at #13 Sir Starmer and the Granny Harmers - Freezing This Christmas, the fact it’s doing it off the back of 1 version versus the 40+ versions priced at 40p that Kunt done.

Was expecting Tom to be much further ahead today, clearly hasn't shifted many of those vinyls then. Wham! for another week it is.

By 'doing it' you mean... charting lower than any of The Kunts' Christmas hits? (Even if it did somehow hold up at #13 all week, which it won't, would be shocked if it ended up higher than it was last week). I suppose it at least beat the post-LadBaby non-political one they put out last year so 1 out of 4 x

It would actually have been at least moderately interesting to see if a campaign similar to The Kunts' from the other side would have done as well, not sure why they only released the one version. As it were, I don't think the song is entertaining at all in concept or in execution and the political point it's making seems at best disingenuous but props to it at least keeping alive the tradition of having amateur novelty campaigns in the Christmas chart each year? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I'll take it over LadBaby.

I think we'll probably get Monday updates the next two weeks but not Wednesdays!

Disgraceful they aren’t providing us with a Wednesday update :D

I’m glad there’s no chart on Friday as it will be clogged up with Christmas songs anyway and besides, I much prefer an EOY chart
With only a 500 lead I really don't think Tom has any chance of holding on.

The £5.99 price tag for the CD single done it no favours - they should have been knocking them out at £1.99

I just asked Alexa to play Christmas songs to test if Tom G was getting mega-pushed & it played Wham! first.

Then Elton & Tom was third song.

I'm not going to be able to listen to the end of year chart this year because I am away on holiday, But I will be back for the 3/1/2025 chart

I’m sad Mariah isn’t top 100 in albums update, Merry Christmas has been doing better in recent years I’m surprised the 30th anniversary hasn’t inspired more physical sales
MW have posted an article but it's mostly about SZA - her sales are in the update above. It also says that Tom's less than 2.5k behind Wham! and gives a SZA - SOS total of 470,570. No other info unfortunately!

So we are looking at 5 non-Christmas songs top 40 at this stage, with Die With A Smile and Sailor Song just outside. With today being a working day, I wouldn't be surprised if it helps the non-Christmas songs enough to keep Chrystal and/or Defying Gravity in at least.

Britney and Leona need to start climbing.

Maisie Peters re-entering in the singles update! :cheer:

It's disappointing that Amazon pushed the Stormzy and Lizzo tracks tracks so much that year and Maisie just missed out on the top 40. Where are they now?

No way. You’re seriously underestimating the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day streams. If they’re already at #35 and #36 they’ll be lucky to stay top 50 imo.

Also even though today is technically a working day, I’d still expect Wham! to clear a million on Spotify.
