Oops. The studio version was better than I feared lmao.

Still definitely the weakest she's released since her album released, but I'm actually liking it lol

This is my summary!

I feared it'd be awful based on the clips, but I'm really enjoying it (country isn't really my thing). I'd take almost all of Midwest Princess over this - but almost all of that album is 10/10 - so I'm really not complaining!

I don’t know why this seems to be such a marmite song. Whilst it’s quite a different sound to her previous material, it still has that catchy melody and tongue in cheek lyric you would associate with

Debuts at number 5 here in Ireland at number 5 with pink pony club a non mover at number 2 and good luck babe climbing 3 to 6 so 3 songs top 6 is a great week for her.

this is amazing, I literally don't understand the disappointment in this forum!!!

It's giving Shania Twain 'Come On Over' era and I'm here for it <3

I'm sure y'all be on board by next week when it debuts Top 3!!!

Actually quite like this.

It is an odd choice after Good Luck and Pink Pony, but it's decent enough on it's own merit.

Having said that, it's a bit Shania Twain album track... Or maybe like when Ella Henderson tried a bit of country.

I still see radio eating it up and a decent chart run

It's by no means bad but... as the follow-up to Good Luck, Babe I expected something at least on the level of the highs of Midwest Princess. She really set the bar super high for herself I guess. lol I just hope this isn't indicative of CR2. tearsmile

It’s really good but yeah not as instant as so many of her others. The last 30/45 seconds is really great though. When she starts doing the adlibs it really adds to the song!

It's extremely nineties Shania Twain/The Chicks, so I'll give it to her for fully committing to the bit — the hooks are hooking. It's not for me though.

I like it myself. But then I enjoyed the live version a lot and that in itself made the top ten in my personal chart, which is rare without a studio.

Seems like she’s having fun and trying different things and isn’t doing what people would expect from her at this point, not that I expected her to.

I don’t think a full country album would suit her at this point, nor do I expect to see one coming, but as a one-off I’m finding it fun and catchy.

Probably is a bit too country to be a mega UK hit. Even most of Shania’s 90s country hits were remixed into more pop/dance versions to smash here. This is very hoedown, not sure there’s a precedent of many hits here sounding this country before. Be interested to see how it does on radio in the US.

It’s an interesting career move though in that she has a lot of momentum behind her now so a really huge pop single at this point could have sent her stratospheric with a 9+ week No.1. It’s quite brave to release this instead at this moment, but she’s so early into her mainstream success that I doubt how this song does will have any major bearing on how the second album does.

This is fun! Definitely not as strong as GLB, but that is a career defining song. It would have been near impossible to match or beat that. Expect this to still be an easy #1, but not expecting a lengthy stint at the top. We shall see.

Think she's said this is a one-off and that. the album is gonna be pop.

I definitely find it too country and kinda disagree with people saying this is very Shania.

Shania was far more pop, pop with some country elements

this is the other way around, country with a little bit of pop

I like it! I don't love it and it's certainly no Good Luck, Babe! but it's not bad at all.

This pretty much sums up how I feel about it. I think it will grow though. I still think the GP will lap it up and it will go to #1 but we'll see.

I don't know what you're all on. This is great and easily sounds like a massive hit.

Also I don't think it really differs from the live version we've already heard?

It's not what I was expecting from her but I don't hate it. It's nowhere near as bad as the reactions in here suggest, but it's also not something I can see myself returning to that often.

I kinda love this but I’ve always been partial to country. She does sound really great on it though and like others have said this is very Woman in Me / Come on over esque Shania and quite fun too! I quite like how versatile Chappell already is proving to be. Definitely someone exciting and one who I think will switch many times throughout their career!

I like it , but just feels like she stripped away everything that's made her Chappel and this could basically be any female country artist
