Ooooh, thank you Lewis, 5th is amazing for Annie after such a slow start, I thought she was destined for bottom five, so I'll take three points away from the top three and my second Bop Idol top five

Congratulations Julian! 😁

Thank you kindly Mangø for some expert hosting, this was very enjoyable indeed (despite being last place!).

Wonderful theme and a fun contest to be in!

Ooooh, thank you Lewis, 5th is amazing for Annie after such a slow start, I thought she was destined for bottom five, so I'll take three points away from the top three and my second Bop Idol top five result very gratefully <3

I can't argue with any of that top five, even if I didn't vote for a couple of them (if not, they were very close).

Congrats Julian, a highlight from one of the defining 00s albums, and ditto Scissor Sisters from Dobbo in 2nd. Same Difference bagging a second Buzzjack contest top five finish too *.*

Aww at that bottom three, I liked and voted for all of them.

Thanks for hosting so well Mango and for another enjoyable theme, and thanks all for the discoveries and reminders of great songs. Bop Idol has very quickly established itself as my non-BJSC favourite song contest on the forum.

Congratulations Julian on the victory winner your song was my favourite of the lot so that's a brilliant result. I also gave Scissor Sisters 10 points (that whole album is excellent) and M83 8 points so my top 3 was the exact same as the actual top 3 o sudden taste-making powers. Good to see the rest of my top 5 (Madonna and PJ Harvey) in the top 10 too.

Yay for my first Bop Idol top 10 *.* improving each time with a 21-12-7 trajectory thus far. Thank you to everyone who voted for The Radio Dept. 🖤

Last but not least... thank you to Mango for a great hosting job! clap

Big congrats to Julian and 'Take My Hand' was a really nice entry. I voted all of the top 6 at that so great stuff. Chuffed with 10th for Orianthi, was a last minute shuffle around for that entry as my original choice did have a video so will probably send that at another time lol. I'm happy I swapped though as it is addictive.

Poor Wardy in last 😞

Thanks for hosting Mango, grand hosting and pacing and it's been a really enjoyable contest again <3

Wow - my 1st ever song contest win.

Thanks very much for all the votes - especially Wardy, Jade and Lewis for the 12s.

Apologies if it was an obvious entry for some - I know it is from one of the most owned albums of the ‘00s decade. As a 16 year old I actually became hyper-obsessed with this album. I probably listened to it more times than Joseph’s listened to “As It Was”.

My taste has thankfully become much more varied since but this particular track still has a big place in my heart. “White Flag” comes close but it’s my favourite Dido song bar none and I think the production is really special. So I felt

I had to send it to this.

Thanks all for indulging me and for the great other song picks, and Mangø for a brilliant hosting job!

Congrats on the win Julian (is this your first song contest win? edit: just seen your post just before mine answered that already!), gave decent pointage to all of the top 3 hooray! + love to see The Radio Dept. and PJ Harvey finishing in the top 10 as well. Lisa Roxanne coming last is very undeserved though oops, a cool TLC-alike discovery there!

Thanks Lewis for a good score for Farrah to finish on and boosting me back to the top 15 - as 14th/15th ended up being the only tiebreak I just went back and did a quick count and unsurprisingly Goldfrapp wins that tiebreak by I believe 13 votes to 8 if I counted correctly x

Thanks for the first time hosting Mango!

Thanks for those points Lewis, ah well 5th wasn't to be, but 6th is great too.

Congratulations Julian on a first song contest win! cheer Bop Idol seems to be good at creating these!

Looks like Scene won the tiebreak for 14th with more votes.

Thank you Mango for hosting a fun edition!

Oops yeah sorry I probably should have resolved tie-breaks but nvm, it probably doesn't matter too much!

I've resolved the tie-break now and for completeness, here is the final scoreboard:

1 (107) Dido - Take My Hand (Julian_) 🏆

2 (96) Scissor Sisters - It Can't Come Quickly Enough (Dobbo)

3 (84) M83 - Outro (uhsting)

4 (83) Same Difference feat. Alcazar - Karma Karma (Chez Wombat)

5 (81) Annie - Me Plus One (gooddelta)

6 (73) Madonna - Amazing (jimwatts)

7 (66) The Radio Dept. - Every Time (Jade)

8 (65) f(x) - Rude Love (Cody)

9 (63) PJ Harvey - 66 Promises (Addy!)

10 (59) Orianthi - Addicted To Love (Roba)

11 (54) Siobhan Donaghy - Don't Take Me Back (Herbs)

12 (52) Ashley Tisdale - Overrated (Tafty)

13 (51) Mis-Teeq - Just For You (lewistgreen)

14 (49) Goldfrapp - Beautiful (Scene) (higher number of votes than Brer)

15 (49) Farrah Abraham - On My Own (Brer)

16 (44) Saint Etienne - Milk Bottle Symphony (dandy*)

17 (33) Joe McElderry - If You Love Me (Mango)

18 (26) Alexander Rybak - Kiss And Tell (CowTzy)

19 (25) Lisa Roxanne - Ex-Boyfriend (awardinary)

Congrats Julian! I wouldn't have wanted to prevent an inspired winner, very different to what I know from Dido but was great to hear more of her Faithless-adjacent sound. I am more than happy to finish a place below Outro and get a new peak in this contest, thanks for indulging my dated cheesy pop side x Some great stuff in the top 10, though Saint Etienne and Goldfrapp should've done a lot better.

Thanks for hosting, Mango!

Saint Etienne really bombed with the final voters, a huge slide back down to reality after being top 5 for a short while.

The top three is great, and I voted for them all, but yes it is a tiny bit predictable to see the obvious ones do so well - although top 5 for Annie makes up for it 🤩 and the Radio Dept and PJ Harvey bagging top 10 finishes is lovely to see too.

Congrats Julian on the win though, Take My Hand definitely is a lovely song. Looking forward to seeing what theme you choose next contest

Fun contest! Thank you for hosting, Mango!

Hope some of you found Ashley to be a solid surprise! If you like this track I think you'd like the album it comes from. Such a great album <3

^^ Not me posting that in Ed's 'Play' thread! I don't even remember venturing into that topic today... omg.

Congrats Julian!

yeah f(x) was so obviously me, during my chart watching infancy I only really listened to album tracks from really established artists (although from seeing what was entered I'm wondering if I could have gotten away with Paramore… 🤔) and I was worrying that this would be too recent, but I wanted to send something from what I think is one of the best K-pop albums ever made 🥰 WOW @ top 10 though, this is actually my first Bop Idol hit and second time doing well with K-pop in BuzzJack contests… sending for the art and not the charts is definitely the strategy 😅 Thanks so much to @uhsting and @Herbs (why can’t you do this with my BJSC entries??? 😭) for the gold medals, @CowTzy and @AllStarBySmashMouth for the bronzes, and to everyone else who gave it a chance! 🥰🥰🥰 hopefully I get the chance to send another Asian pop banger for the next contest lol

@Mangø great hosting and thanks for the opportunity to send this banger 🥰

Wow that was quite the thrilling ride at the end after a very slow start for my entry! Many congrats Julian, wasn't my personal cup of tea but not hard to see its wide appeal. Does that mean all 3 winners of Bop Idol now were the first wins of any kind of song contest on this site? Pretty neat if so (and glad I didn't buck the trend of that particular quirk).

The Scissor Sister's eponymous album was one of the very first I remember buying on CD (Scooter was very first from 2002!) so I have many memories of spamming that whole track list and It Can't Come Quickly Enough stayed with me the most over the years, a haunting, ethereal-sounding beaut of track. I did think it would be pretty well known on here but I was struggling with coming up with any other entries. My back up was Diplomat's Son by Vampire Weekend for what it's worth!

Shame Same Difference just missed out of the top 3 (but I couldn't have done any more to help its cause with giving it the full 12 and giving M83 nada) - did not expect to love it as much as I did but there ya go. Really thought Mis-Teeq would have done better here as it was very standout in this field. Also justice for Alexander Rybak, great discovery that one was.

Big hand to Mango for his first time hosting a contest, you pulled it off just fine 👍

Oops my top 10 streak is broken. 😭 thanks all for the votes though! @Mangø you did a fantastic job hosting so thank you, and congrats Julian on your first Bop Idol win! Looking forward to seeing your vision for BI4!

Like some have said, many great discoveries, such as Siobhan solo career (might have known before but completely forgot about it), 'On My Own' (ahead of its time, I tell you) and 'Rude Love' (sounds like a single/lead track).
