There are currently 4 being given prominent places on playlists:

Kylie

Gwen Stefani

Vanessa Mai

Mariah the Scientist

Kylie is the cover artist for two playlists and is definitely (currently) the one being pushed. She has dual nationality (she has a UK passport I believe) and is an artist who musically is based in the UK (even if she has now moved back to Australia).

There are several lesser tracks too. But no British artists YET (excluding Kylie).

The question is: if there are tracks by British artists later, will they take precedent over the two tracks currently being pushed (Kylie and Gwen)?

For a moment I thought, the 90s violinist? But in fact it's the German schlager star, which would be even more random if she managed to sneak an Alexa-aided UK top 100 hit.

  • scenes when Alexa gets Kylie a Christmas #1 and Buzzjack doesn't know whether to get excited cos it's Kylie or annoyed cos it's Alexa and the song wouldn't be top 10 on a level playing field

  • Turns out the Kylie physicals ARE released on Christmas week (12th December for 19th December chart). Go on Kylie stans, do your best.

  • We need some sausage rolls I think.

When Alexa pushes Kylie's XMAS song to number one and queues Santa Baby right after it on every play as well so Kylie ends up getting two Christmas top tens 🤩

The only way it's going to be anything other than Wham or Mariah is if Taylor Swift knocks out a Christmas song and releases 5 different vinyl versions that week.

I actually hope she does that too.

Its crazy that Taylors actual christmas song has still to make top 40 considering she just keeps getting bigger and bigger so would a brand new one actually be successful enough

It’s a shame too as Christmas tree farm is so great! One of my fave modern Christmas songs! I think it was timed badly as it came out after lover which was a bit of a flop era (don’t get me wrong it was successful but didn’t match the heights of previous releases red, rep and 1989) and then when she had her second peak in 2022-onwards it was on permenant acr, and in 22 midnights had dropped in autumn and 2023 1989tv dropped in autumn so focus was on them not the Christmas song

The dream!

From the OCC.

Kylie Minogue enters the race for 2025's Official Christmas Number 1 single with brand-new tune XMAS, an Amazon Music Original.

The track (pronounced X-M-A-S, btw) is available to stream now exclusively on Amazon Music, and is also available to pre-order on CD, 7-inch gold vinyl and 12-inch zoetrope vinyl via Amazon and Kylie's official online store.

Kylie joins the likes of Ellie Goulding, Katy Perry, Sam Ryder and Tom Grennan as the latest artist to lend their voice to Amazon Music's festive Originals series, which have proven a force to be reckoned with in the iconic Christmas Number 1 race in recent years.

Could Kylie take XMAS all the way this year?

This comes alongside the announcement of a 'Fully Wrapped' reissue of Kylie's Kylie Christmas album, 10 years after its original 2015 release.

Just put a fiver bet on Kylie whilst her odds are 20/1, worth a shot!

I looked earlier but couldn’t see anywhere taking bets on it

Wow I wasn't expecting a Kylie to be the Alexa song this year.

Have any of the other Amazon songs been announced?

I wasnt either so its a great surprise, i just hope Kylie and all the team working on it throw the kitchen sink at it, im not overly optimitsic of it going number 1 but another top 10 for Kylie would be great, anything else will be a bonus.

I think the physicals will certainly help. I’m just hoping it’ll be something new for #1 this year.

Do we know when bet365 will open the books for Christmas #1 betting? thinking

I can't see Slade doing much, because they aren't on most of the heavily American-inspired playlists. The same reason The Pogues couldn't do much when Shane died, sadly.

Even a return to the Top 20 for Slade would be a result - it's 5 years since they last managed that, and the song hasn't made the Top 15 since its original release.

01 59,426 Wham! - Last Christmas [2,067 CDs, 4,397 12" vinyl, 1,860 downloads, 51,101 streaming] [sCR: 110,528] [total: 5,984,618] [post-1994 total: 4,564,703] [1,469 ineligible formats this week]

04 39,049 Tom Grennan - It Can't Be Christmas

This was the gap last year between Wham! at Christmas No.1 and Tom 'Alexa' Grennan. Let's assume Wham! don't have the 6k+ physicals this year (maybe 1/2k from some sort of release or leftovers) and say 54/55k for them.

The Christmas chart is also announced a day further away from Christmas Day compared to last year so Alexa might be feeling fractionally less generous. Let's assume 37k Alexa sales for Kylie, then 18k+ physicals is a tall order but if there's anybody that can do it with a very loyal and devoted fanbase and a cause to get motivated for, then it's Kylie. I think the prices (e.g £4.99 for the CD) are still probably a bit high for people to buy two songs available on an album that comes out the week before. Should have saved a couple of b-sides and kept them physical only!

Hopefully not one of the 20 songs, which is in the Top 20 each christmas in the last 10 years. Seriously, charts in December does not make any sense nowadays as all songs in the Top 20 are all derived from the same playlist.
