A few weeks ago, someone on Instagram recommended the 1986 D.A.F. album 1st Step To Heaven - unfortunately unavailable on Spotify. I looked into the band a bit more, and discovered one half of D.A.F. released a solo album in 1983, which I was able to listen to. I was shocked to hear Annie Lennox singing on it - as @Brer mentioned, uncredited - unless you read the album liner notes. So, a recent Retro discovery from me this round. And I DO hope to be able to track down that D.A.F. album! And as I love coincidences: I had just ordered Annie's new book before hearing this song..... An omen!?

Scotland 2 Long missing from SF2

Thrilled with the semi draw. Not because I think the pop girlies are gonna go wild for German language pussypop, rather because I don’t have to suffer through 25 minutes of just one song.

Semi 2 (thanks in large part to Scotland 2), is 50 minutes longer than Semi 1! Quite the disparity, but it is clearly more alt heavy and pop songs tend to be shorter, so it makes sense.

Even if Scotland 2 had sent a more normal length song that'd still work out to semi 2 being nearly half an hour longer!

I did my bit to try and maintain semi length parity as my song is the shortest in semi 2 (by nearly 30 seconds) only the third shortest in the contest as a whole though. Semi 1 has 11 sub-3 minute songs compared to only 2 in semi 2!

I'm curious to see the results — I feel like when there are too many 'similar' entries or countries from the same bloc in one semi, some tend to underperform or go against predictions. I expect surprises tbh

Heard of about 7 entries this time around. Of those, the biggest of my hype goes to Jadakissnia with a song that I strongly considered sending (and as mentioned, Jade beat me to making a confirmation exactly one second before me if I had gone for it!)

My biggest hype however would’ve been going to Aesthetica if they’d stuck with XG - Gala, which is one of my favourite discoveries of the last month. Interested to see what they replaced it with x

Be glad I changed my mind on the troll song for the gold that I sent instead! Unless you all want me to send a song about a woman with huge boobs next time around?
