  • I just realised that the "I look at the sun and I look in the mirror" lyric in 'The Fear' is referring to the newspapers! 😂 It's gone from being the weaker lyrics of the song to the best!

Also, the hype must have been quite low by 2008 around her comeback for her to upload the album's best tracks nearly a year in advance to MySpace and just let them live on there - this included The Fe

  • Amy Winehouse also says hello!

'Not Fair' being ahead of 'The Fear' is a choice x Kind of iconic that 'Fuck You' is so high without ever charting though.

Hard out here being in the middle is suprising considering it basically got overshadowed and forgotten when SOWK was released a week (or 2 later)

Can we organise some streaming and download campaigns to get Who'd Have Known ahead of 5 O'Clock sad

Those sales for Fuck You are really impressive, it feels like one of her signature songs at this point. Goes to show her label should've been bolder and issued it as a single here, it had an edit that replaced each F word with a sound effect lol

SOWK actually came out first (one week before)

it always seemed quite an odd move to try pushing HOH at the same time SOWK was peaking anyway though I'm not sure the song would've fared a lot better if they'd waited for the new year either

Other way around, but yes! 'Hard Out Here' is one of her best singles!

I remember this was a B-side to 'The Fear', I remember those farm animals all over the chorus to this day 🤣

Surprised 'Roll the Dice' is so high here. I remember being at the Roundhouse when that was premiered (in live form, but it wasn't released then). Didn't think it was so well steamed!

I really dislike that entire top 3 lol 'The Fear' however is a masterpiece.

I'm quite surprised much maligned 'Air Balloon' isn't silver, I thought it did fairly decently. It must have had a worse chart run than I remember.

I loved 'Roll the Dice' back in 2018 so I'm glad it's done well for everyone involved over time, #7 here is impressive!

Ah my bad but yeah 2 polar opposite songs at the same time definitely hindered HOH bu then yeah festive period SOWK was definitely gonna do better but agree with @Juranamo HOH is one of her best

Some absolute bops in that list wub lovely to see her P!nk and Professor Green collabs in her top 10 too, love both of those!

Hard Out Here never got a particularly good radio edit, which can't have helped it - Radio 1 did show it some support but it's one of their lesser played Lily singles - and then Somewhere Only We Know overshadowing it was the nail in the coffin sadly. It's my favourite Lily song though!

Radio 1 still played the version with bitch in it I remember Fearne Cotton had to give a warning before playing it!

I really liked HOH and disliked her version of SOWK.

Agree, Who'd Have Know deserves to be so much higher.

Her discography is far better than a lot of this list suggests, hopefully her current success is going to shake it up a bit.

Also surprised at the relative lower performance of The Fear over the years compared to Not Fair and other songs on the list.

I guess The Fear is a fairly serious song lyrically and has a more somber production whereas Not Fair, F**k You, etc are more uptempo and light hearted so people would more often be in the mood to listen to them.

I think the most impressive thing is how much bigger her second album era was than her debut. There are so few British female artists who maintain success, never mind having a bigger sophomore era. Adele is probably the only other one I can think of. Lily could so easily have ended up in a similar trajectory to the likes of Jessie J, Emeli Sande, Duffy, etc.

Olivia Dean?

My favourite was always The Fear. Don’t really have time for the top 3.
