Great to see the Zara songs continuing to climb up Spotify. 2026 is gonna be a big year for her, that's for sure.

Well it already happened for her surely. She had a couple of years with hit after hit.

I meant with her current era

There's an AI 'afrosoul' cover of Stromae's Papaoutai at No.2 on the UK Viral 50 (also currently charting on iTunes), so you can probably expect it to enter the top 200 imminently. It's already No.7 in Germany. Not sure if this is genuine support or a bot thing. The song really works with that kind of sound but I just wish a proper artist had had the idea and recorded it.

I also don't know how royalties work with AI covers, and how they are even allowed to be released honestly.

Interesting. Is it officially confirmed as AI or rumoured?

On the topic of Raindance, it is still so odd to me how the majority of African music hit songs still need an Anglospheric feature/collab to smash.

These songs are in English, why the need for a Bieber, Gomez, Drake, Dave feature.

I think "Last Last", "People", "Water" are the only one African music top tens of 2020s without the need a western remix/feature?

To be fair I would say it's only in the last few years or so that a lot of African music has (finally) been charting properly after years of being underrepresented. So it isn't entirely surprising.

I feel it'll be similar to the likes of KPop where initially a lot of work is needed with English-speaking features etc before it then smashes out the gate in its own right with big artists/heavy hitters. Also as various African countries continue to develop economically, there will be a bigger impact on streaming services like Spotify. Similar to what's happened with Asia where Spotify expanded into rapidly in from the middle 10s/early 20s which has helped with crossover of hits I feel as some of the biggest global songs on Spotify sometimes start with big streams in other parts of the world which then gets them more general playlisting support elsewhere like Today's Top Hits etc.

'Raindance' is up to #2 on Spotify today!

Also, an incredible day for Bruno's discography, including a new entry for my favourite song of his - 'It Will Rain' 🥰

up 05 I Just Might (+3)

up 25 Locked out of Heaven (+30)

up 43 That's What I Like (+43)

up 45 Die With A Smile (+21)

up 58 Grenade (+74)

up 64 When I Was Your Man (+65)

up 66 Just the Way You Are (+113)

up 91 APT. (+42)

re 116 Marry You

ne 144 It Will Rain

re 149 Talking to the Moon

ne 163 Nothin' on You

re 167 24k Magic

Bruno's team got to work yesterday 😂

'It Will Rain' is my favourite from him as well - slightly surprised it's never charted on Spotify before but better late than never <3

The new song is already growing on me as well, so would not be opposed to it going to #1 (although rooting for Dave to get there first x).

Dave only 23k off Olivia now - funnily enough it was #2 on the day of the album release with an almost identical gap behind the same song so we've just basically gone back in time about 3 months D

Have we got the list of most days/weeks at #1 on Spotify. Olivia about to claim her 14th week I think?

I don't know Papaoutai only that it was mentioned in Europapa!

As it stands after two weeks of 2026:

Wham! - Last Christmas (136 days)

Alex Warren - Ordinary (128)

Drake feat. Wizkid & Kyla - One Dance (101)

Olivia Dean - Man I Need (94)

Dave & Central Cee - Sprinter (87)

Tones and I - Dance Monkey (81)

Noah Kahan - Stick Season (78)

Post Malone & 21 Savage - rockstar (77)

Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You (76)

Drake - God's Plan (75)

Not sure about most weeks - could maybe work them all out from the Spotify site except 'One Dance' as it's before 2017.
