Just going to frame this from halfway through x

Seriously though it was fun being briefly in the top 10 there, and unlike with VACUUM MAN it was just a fleeting moment so I never really allowed myself to believe it'd hold up there, I definitely did a lot less well in the second half so was happy to just tread water in the midtable before a nice late boost back up to securing my first top 20 for the year, hooray. Operation sob story entry classifying as a moderate success for me. Notably I managed to outdo all of the predictions (Scene had me ranked the highest at 19th, which I still just about beat even before being nudged up one more place by the Yehesi deduction), and I see I actually quite substantially outperformed my semi result despite initially thinking it was the better semi draw for me! Combing through the semi spreadsheets I don't see any shenanigans there, all the people who voted for me in the semi did vote for me in the final too as well as climbing into the final votes for Elëdan and Summericia, so I guess I just had more fans from semi 1 than I expected x

Anyway, the rest of those results... the top 2 both ranked in my low 20s (Altyr 26th as I posted already and Hendinia 29th) so not super enthused but not an outright terrible result either. Relieved that Pagasa did not actually screw themselves out of a win but scarily close! Instead maybe just screwing themselves out of an auto-qualifier x Good to see them still being top 5 after the deduction anyway, still a big well deserved new peak for them, and the song that snatched their place on the podium is another one I voted for albeit only just (Klum Rep snuck in in place of Aeroche after my relisten, I hope Leww won't mind that x). Only voted for one more of the top 10 but that is another great one, my silver medallist Harmonica which I did hope might have dark horse potential but certainly wouldn't have bet on it being as high as 6th so that's a lovely result! FSR Rontvia and N DNTN made my commiserations too. Sooo close to having my entire top 3 in the final top 10 - 11th is a good result for Lip Critic and I couldn't have done any more for them but aw xx

Pretty good showings there for Summericia, Deandria, FARC, Elëdan and Lentyll too jump Bøtanikkä deserved a lot better than 23rd after Jerry came top 5 with an imo much inferior song two contests ago but hey ho. Cheiron, Danæviia, Jupiterdonia and especially Dalisska robbed - I had not clocked at all how poorly the latter was doing oops, well at least we did narrowly avoid it being another host entry DNQing but I am surprised it struggled so badly, it is now Dalisska's biggest hit among Persephonian voters!

East Rukahavian adding another onto their record pile of wooden spoons did feel like somewhat of an inevitability, they did really well to qualify with this song at all (I genuinely half expected that it would have been another one to come last in the semi let alone the final). Will continue to root for another big East Ruk hit in the near future x

9 out of 14 votes for Scotland 2 in the final being medals - such an unassuming sounding song to be so starkly divisive.

Thanks Sabrewulf for a wonderful contest, though hoping we'll now be back to the smooth transfer of hosting powers to the winners.

oop I kind of thought this entry from me might do better in BJSC than where I first entered it... but I think maybe in BJSC of 3-4yr ago it might have done better

Yay, a huge favorite of mine won!🤩 Wohoooo, congratulations🥳

Is it your usual practice to publish the semifinal results as well? I'm wondering about results there.

Yes, there are a few contests from the earlier years where the full spreadsheets were either never posted or were lost to expired links / image hosting sites before I could archive them but everything has been posted and archived since BJSC 41 and there is a full archive of at least the positions and points from all semi-finals x

Congrats Altyr, great pop track. It was my 12 in the semi but some other songs overtook, still loved it though. Klum's was a commiseration but kept growing on me so nice to see that top 3 as well and Pagasa for hanging on to top 5 despite the deduction. Got New Lexico spot on predictions wise (and also for Botanikka and Wholune. Very nearly with Danæviia too, one off).

Pleasantly surprised to see Rontvia as high as 8th. I don't think there was any predictions for that to come top 10 or anywhere near so nice to see them be a surprise darkhorse here. Voted for Pophub as well inside the top 10. Lookylion's likely would be just outside my Commiserations too.

13th is great for us, did have a feeling it'd do quite well off the back of already coming 3rd in PJSC a couple of years back. Thanks for the votes again 😊 Thrilled for Deandria top 15 too. Shame Zanmatony just missed top 20 though but pleased it did well and would've liked Spodic Empire to do better than 28 too, a retro banger!

Thanks Daliskka for the superb hosting.

Well done Altyr!!! Not my favourite song this month but I knew Haute & Freddy had a winner in them, it was just about what song!

Fabulous to see Hendinia in 2nd, shame it couldn't quite snatch the win (such a good song) and to Patrick defying the expectations in 3rd, I knew it would do well for you!!! Pagasa still being Top 5 is fantastic after deduction too. Really glad Rontvia got Top 10 too, thought that could've been a little higher!

Friedland and Dalisska's entries should've done much better, the former I thought would do much better than that!

Another month for me where I relatively underperform which is a shame, I definitely thought this one would potentially get me back to the Top 10 but it seems Dan was actually right! Least it's a more confident qualifier than recently.

Since I'm not on such a hot streak atm I'm gonna just go old school Aeroche again and send some Costa Rican witch house next month as it stands x

Was archery tag any fun? (And what is it exactly?)

I was AWFUL but I've never done archery ever, so this was quite a stressful way to learn! It's like a mixture of dodgeball and paintball... but with archery? We were on teams trying to hit one another with foam archery bows things.

But yeah, not the best 60 minutes of my life, I was out first like every time 😂

Seperate fun fact but I was thinking about the fact Altyr, New Lexico, Pagasa etc. all DNQ'd last contest but no country that finished top 10 last contest finished top 10 in this contest. It felt like a certain few countries dominated every contest last year so it's fun that 20 of us have got a top 10 in the first two of the year.

Congrats Altyr :cheer:

It was only a matter of time for Haute & Couture to win in BJSC!!!

I’m on the same boat as Rob on this one…it came across my mind to try and confirm all of Altyr, Yehesi, New Lexico and Hendinia songs o

I’m not surprised at all at #23 for Jerry Heil, considering she was sent just two contests ago!!! Although to my defense, I didn’t have that emotional connection since I wasn’t partaking in BJSC180, but I completely understand why it felt for the others so soon!!!

#3 in semis is quite remarkable though <3

So thank you everyone as always for your support <3

And Sabre, amazing job with hosting duties…please comeback soon again!!!

As of 183, I’m itching to go retro <3

Gosh, really did not expect to win - thank you everyone who voted for Haute & Freddy!

First win in 39 contests and first medal position in 33 contests. It has felt like I’ve been totally out of touch lately and was considering my future in the contest so nice to know the old girl still has it.

You’ll all be very welcome to Altyr next month for our 150th BJSC.

Wow. That feels like a stat that could potentially be a first (although it probably has happened before), 100% turnover in the top ten from the previous month!

Realised that twice in a row, a nation won after NQ-ing the previous edition! Must be a new trend!

Hopefully those that failed to qualify twice this year get a chance next time. Thought I'll say that because I'm still lowkey grateful in Q-ing without relying on pop circles, online star power, buzz, etc.!

I voted for all of the original top 3 so good results on the whole - and the K Rep track was good too so happy to see that be the one that was promoted to third.

Admittedly I was hoping for my 18 to win but it did seem unlikely once they got a deduction - Haute and Freddy were a good winner regardless though so congratulations John!

Love Rob’s observation that there’s been 20 different countries in the first two top 10s of the year, great to see a variety of people getting success <3

Fabulous top 10 and winner!

Thank you Cody from saving me from the bottom 5 with that 18! 🩵 Very interesting to see a handful of the usual pop countries not give Hushkanukia points… Noted! 😉😂

finally catching up, these results couldn’t have gone better apart from the late voting hiccup on my end! and 3-5 isn’t a nightmare scenario all in all, not just a first top 10 but a first top 5 cheeseblock

also a rare moment of synchronicity with the hivemind, voted for the entire top 10 minus altyr and new lexico, but both weren’t far off our top 15, so I’m really in good company here. Ty to everyone who voted and ty especially to @blacksquare for being our biggest cheerleader (and tyra banks when we needed it) 🖤

going back to typical alt bloc pagasa dreck for the next contest 😍

(Finally had time to type a full post)

Congrats John!!! That's going to be a memorable winner for me, was glad to hear another Haute & Freddy song here as I really liked 'Scantily Clad' too. Wow, I can't remember the last time I voted for the entire top 4, with an asterisk of course due to Pagasa's deduction - congrats dhwe anyhow on your first top 10 and top 5! Hopefully your second one happens much sooner than your first one did.

Yay for Persephonia top 20, glad Band of Horses got as many as 22 votes. Would've liked at least a little bit higher for Wholune, Juranabaijan, Dobago and East Rukahavian, glad to see East Ruk at least came close to escaping last place.

As for my entry, WOW! This was one of the most last-minute entries I've ever sent, knew the song for a couple weeks and didn't consider sending it until the night before the deadline. Now it's tied for my third-biggest hit ever! And my biggest hit since I won over two years ago. (I already had a 6th-place so I wouldn't have minded 5th or 7th but that's okay kink) Glad I tried something different for a change, thanks to all who supported it! I don't anticipate sending more electronic instrumentals in the future but we'll see tongue

And thanks Sabrewulf for the brilliant hosting, enjoy the rest now after a job well done!

Bit of a comedown from the success of Wubble U. Predictions were very generous, in retrospect,

Thanks to Summericia, Kluminican Republic and Greenfroze for the 18s!
