Wanted to support Mel C but Sweat is one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard!

Why base an entire album on one song? What an odd thing to say.

I laughed and said "oh I think I've heard of her yes" 😂 I was a bit speechless, said first of all I'm deaf and rely on lipreading to communicate and she put the CD she was going to sign down and sa

Why is that a shame? What an odd thing to say

I wouldn't say it's an odd thing to say.

Thought Mel might have got past Kneecap by now, at least the top 3 is on lock and a best ever peak wise on the albums. It’s not a bad album either.

Hope that Midnight Sun can stay top 10 by Friday

But it wouldnt be a midnight sun if its 10 😝

In my ideal world it would be a Mel C and Kacey top 2 in the albums but alas

Shame for Mel C but hopefully top 3 is on lock?

I wish they would put Greatest Hits/Compilation albums into their own chart/combined it with the soundtrack chart. Would make the album chart much fresher and less streaming manipulation of assigning streams to different greatest hit albums etc.

Much as part of me wants to agree, sales lower down the chart would be pitiful I imagine!

Plus it'd probably equally be clogged with old pseudo Greatest Hits albums like The Fame, Teenage Dream and Good Girl Gone Bad which will never go. I think aside from a few like Olivia, the album chart isn't really representative of the "album" as a body of work. It's just about which have the most hit singles on a playlist.

As long as it gets a partial stream... sure go write it off my dear! 😎

Would Billie Jean be top if it wasn't on ACR? Is there a chance it could be moved back to the standard chart ratio, like Kate Bush was with Runnin' Up That Hill? We haven't had a solo posthumous number 1 single since Elvis in 2005.

Billie Jean's on SCR!

Oh, well those sales make more sense! I guess the number 1 is unlikely, then, but 2 was MJ's peak after his death, so it's crazy to see him so close to being that high again.

I imagine that, if The Essential reaches number 1, it would be the first album to posthumously go to number 1 twice?

Apparently Mel told fans at the Manchester show tonight another download of the album was coming tomorrow for a last push! Gotta say they are giving it (you) everything - pun intended lol

Well it’s the first song on the album, it put me off listening to the rest. I didn’t say anything about the album, just that one song, I’m happy to see her succeed regardless. Don’t jump to conclusions

Oh I was just using your "odd thing to say" comment back at you, no jumping here, far too lazy for that happy lol

The irony is that Sweat is by far the worst thing on the album, the rest is really good.

I've no idea what they were thinking pushing it as a single.

I think sweat is just ok, my friends love it but I'm not bothered for it. I still think it was a good single choice for her to launch the album.
