May 6May 6 I quite like this cover version - there is another cover version I would have placed here.
May 6May 6 A very pedestrian cover version.I remember at the time she set a Guinness world record for most public appearances in 24 hours to promote it.
May 6May 6 Back on track now i've shared my disgust at miss verbalicious. That Rachel cover is harmless A totally not needed cover, but a pleasant one all the same!

May 6May 6 I fear My Prerogative will be an early exit but I hope not - it’s such a strong (and fitting) cover imo.

Rachel followed up this blip with Sport Relief smash 'Some Girls' and capitalised on this momentum with a deluxe version of Funky Dory, which also featured a cover of 'More, More More', pencilled in as the next single. The original was released by adult film star turned disco diva Andrea True, more specifically credited to Andrea True Connection. This 1976 hit managed to chart in the top 5 across both sides of the Atlantic and was later sampled in '90s classic 'Steal My Sunshine' by LEN. Bananarama also got in on the action in 1993 with a Mike Stock and Peter Waterman make-over of the song. It was less successful for them, peaking at #24 here in the U.K., their last top 40 hit for 12 years.Rachel stepped into the arena and casually delivered the highest charting version of 'More, More, More' in the U.K., when it reached #3, out-peaking the original by 2 spots. This was no mean feat in a week that featured a whopping seven new entries in the top 10, including Robbie's 'Radio' at the top, fellow Pop Princesses 2 hit 'Whatever U Want' by Christina Milian and even the much referenced Khia. 'More, More, More' was chosen to highlight Sky Sports' football coverage for the 2004-5 season, which was a smart move, as it helped propel Elton John's 'Are You Ready For Love?' to #1 the previous year. I associate it more with ScS sofa adverts though!'More, More, More' could be found as song #3 on Pop Princesses 2, which feels appropriate, considering its chart peak and More x3 title.Rachel particularly stole the hearts of Viper*, Lee_J11 and 777666jason who found this cover worthy of a 9. However, Julian_ didn't want any more of this, scoring it a 2.I quite enjoy this cover, but saying that it's not one of the top Rachael songs I go back too.So it's probably about right in it's placement I think.
May 7May 7 No surprises so far, but that Rachel Stevens cover of 'More, More, More' is pretty awful. Not sure who thought that was a good idea to follow 'Some Girls' with that. Surprised it peaked at #3 on the charts, well not really surprised because these bland covers were a dime a dozen back then & it was obviously a safe choice. 'Funky Dory' was another awful single choice for her. Why was 'Fools' & 'Breathe In Breathe Out' overlooked, the latter even had a single remix & would have been a better choice than the title track or 'Meh Meh Meh' for single releases. Hell even 'Heaven Has To Wait' would have been a better option than those 2 filler single choices.
May 7May 7 Author 19 Christina Milian - Whatever U Want (feat. Joe Budden)avg: 6.21👑 Pop Royalty: 10 (Tafty), 9 (Viper*, Jessie Where)❌ Pop Flop: 1 (Julian_), 3 (Henessy Lake, Chez Wombat)Christina took the wheel of a very short journey as 'Whatever U Want' has finished 8 places lower than 'AM to PM' from the previous rate, settling for a 6.21 average.Milian put out 'Dip It Low' as the first single from her sophomore album It's About Time. However, it acted as her debut album in the U.S., as the release of Christina Milian was cancelled there in the wake of 9/11. 'Dip It Low' was a success and charted at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100, while also peaking at #2 here. 'Whatever U Want' featuring rapper Joe Budden was chosen as the follow-up. He was best known for the track 'Pump It Up' at the time which made #13 here. 'Whatever U Want' was written by a team including singer-turned-songwriter Aleese Simmons, who can be heard as a backing vocalist on Britney's 'From The Bottom of My Broken Heart'. Milian's bass guitar heavy R&B track only scraped a #100 position in the U.S. but reached #9 here, a fifth top 10 in a row for her, plus Budden's only one to date. As aforementioned, this song entered the top 10 during the same week as Rachel Stevens' 'More, More, More', so it's funny they should follow each other around here too.The music video for this song was directed by Ray Kay who has some impressive credits to his name. These include: Lady Gaga's 'Poker Face', fellow U.K. #1 'Fight For This Love' by Cheryl, plus Justin Bieber's 'Baby', which at one point was the most viewed music video on YouTube. Upon rewatch, I was reminded that a clip of 'Dip It Low' can be heard at the start of the 'Whatever U Want' video. Tafty was feelin' this and loses another 10 pretty quickly after 'Teenage Superstar'. However, Julian_ did not want whatever Christina and Joe were serving, so gave them a score of 1.
May 7May 7 There was a time I quite liked this but it’s not one I ever consider playing these days. At least she still has Play to come.
May 7May 7 Absolutely love it! I think it's a banger and one of her very best, shame it's completely forgotten now (or dare I say was barely known in the first place?)
May 7May 7 'Whatever U Want' has ALWAYS been my favourite Christina Milian song! Loooove it so much. It's an absolute banger and deserved to be bigger.
May 7May 7 That was one of the couple of songs I didn't remember from this compilation and yeah I can see why it hasn't stood the test of time as well as a couple of her other hits, it's pretty bland. The Rachel Stevens cover is fine enough but inessential.
May 7May 7 Both of those are a bit mid for me, Christina's track is ok but Rachel's was my least favourite single of hers, but clearly a good ploy to consolidate a big No.2 smash with a cover this time and not end up going the same way as Funky Dory did in 2003. That set her up quite well for 2005 and the majestic Come And Get It album so I respect the label for playing the long game. This version of the track is just a little bland and polished for me, and doesn't have the edge of Some Girls or her later singles.
