Talking of CBBC, before Verbalicious she was in a very poor BBC comedy which might as well have been for kids, All About Me with Jasper Carrott, Meera Syal and Nina Wadia. The Natalia lore never lets

There was a time I quite liked this but it’s not one I ever consider playing these days. At least she still has Play to come.

18 Christina Aguilera - What A Girl Wants

avg: 6.69

👑 Pop Royalty: 11 (...ready for it), 10 (leww)

Pop Flop: -1 (Viper*), 2 (Henessy Lake)

From one Christina who has taken a tumble from the first rate to another... it seems what BuzzJack truly wanted was 'Genie in a Bottle', as 'What A Girl Wants' has placed 14 positions lower. The averages are at least closer to 7 than 6 now, with Xtina commanding a 6.69 one.

'What A Girl Wants' was chosen as the second single from Christina Aguilera's self-titled debut after 'Genie In A Bottle' had proven to be a bonafide smash. This follow-up was written by Shelly Peiken and Guy Roche; it was also produced by the latter. Peiken has written some other hits in her time such as: fellow Aguilera smash 'Come On Over Baby', 'Bitch' by Meredith Brooks and 'Who You Are' by Jessie J. 'What A Girl Wants' was originally recorded in French by a singer named Ophélie Winter back in 1998, with lyrics adapted by herself. This iteration was called 'Ce Que Je Suis'. The song was then shopped around by its aforementioned original writers to RCA Records and ended up being recorded in English by Aguilera in 1999.

'What A Girl Wants' proved that Xtina was here to stay and became the first new #1 of the 2000s on the Billboard Hot 100. This song was also nominated for 'Best Pop Vocal Performance' at the Grammys, but lost out to Macy Gray's 'I Try'. Here in the U.K. Aguilera peaked at #3, as part of an all-female top 3 alongside All Saints' 'Pure Shores' at the top and Gabrielle's 'Rise' at #2.

This song was amusingly typoed as 'What A Girls Wants' on Pop Princesses 2 and could be found as track #13, between JLo's helpers Ashanti and Christina Milian.

...ready for it wanted to thank Christina for knowing exactly what she wanted and gave this song an 11. Meanwhile, 'What A Girl Wants' did not make vocal Xtina hater Viper* happy nor set him free. So she has polarised with the first 11 and -1 of the results so far.

Hooray that I’m not in the lowest scorers for the first time as I gave “What A Girl Wants” a whopping 3. It’s really very meh though.

Not even sorry.

And even now I know that one of the worst people in “celebrity” world released the abomination of “verbalicious” on us, I would still rate this lower! happy

So even in the rate, Britney has won the battle between her and Christina!

And in other news, water is wet gaga

Both songs on this comp are not good.

Dannii has a very cool sexy cover of more more more, its on some hed kandi album, not sure if it is on streaming!!

WAGW is so good and too low!

I never realised What A Girl Wants was disliked as much as it is. In fairness it is pretty bland and not a patch one Genie In A Bottle or even Come On Over Baby.

I always liked What A Girl Wants personally and bought the single at the time. I really loved Christna's debut album and all of its singles, even (and tbh especially) I Turn To You.

It sounds way more dated and innocent than Stripped but is still very charming.

But the people have spoken, X-Tina is worse kink

Both Christina Milian's 'Whatever U Want' & Aguilera's 'What A Girl Wants' are solid and cute bops that followed far better lead singles. They were fun at time, but don't back to either now though, very of their time.

17 Lucie Silvas - Breathe In

avg: 6.77

👑 Pop Royalty: 11 (RyanFM), 10 (JosephStyles, Billy.)

Pop Flop: 2 (Henessy Lake), 3 (vibe)

Maybe it's already here... time for Lucie Silvas to depart the rate with an average of 6.77.

British singer-songwriter Silvas signed to EMI records in 2000 but her contract was soon terminated after debut single 'It's Too Late' was poorly received. A planned accompanying album Forget Me Not was also scrapped. In 2001 she was contacted by Chrysalis Records who expressed interest in her as a songwriter. She would pen tracks for talent show alumni like: Gareth Gates, Liberty X, Sarah Whatmore and Will Young, plus fellow pop princess Rachel Stevens. In 2003 she got a second chance at superstardom when signing a new recording contract of her own, with Mercury Records. She released the album Breathe In which spawned multiple top 10s in 'What You're Made Of' (#7) and also her highest charting song to date, 'Breathe In', which made #6.

'Breathe In' was written by a team including Silvas, Judie Tzuke and Mike Peden - the latter of whom also produced the song. Silvas had previous connections with Tzuke due to singing backing vocals for her. Peden was part of the dance trio The Chimes who had a #6 hit of their own when covering U2's 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For' in 1990.

'Breathe In' debuted at #6 in January 2005 during the same week as the Chemical Brothers and Q-Tip with 'Galvanize', who funnily return to the charts just this week with 'Go'. Ciara's 'Goodies' was #1 in this chart, pipping an Elvis re-release to the top, while Athlete, Feeder and Stonebridge all had new entries in the top 10 too. Those names provide a range of genre diversity, with Silvas bringing her own brand of singer-songwriter pop to the table. She wasn't afraid to surprise though, as the Breathe In album includes a cover of 'Nothing Else Matters' by heavy metal royalty Metallica.

In a shocking twist, resident Lucie stan Joseph wasn't even the biggest fan of 'Breathe In', that honour instead going to RyanFM. On the opposite end, it was Henessy Lake who dragged this down the most, with a score of just 2.

I’d have given “What You’re Made Of” quite a high score. This one isn’t so great but still pleasant and the first to drop that I might listen to voluntarily.

‘I Turn To You’ and ‘What A Girl Wants’ have always been my fave debut era Xtinct tracks. Particularly the former. Such a beaut.

‘Breathe In’ is a lovely song. Just not one I really go to.

That is way too low - it is a great song. When do we finally have that awful Britney cover song?

My Prerogative is great. A cover so good she kinda owns it now tbh. So much better than the original to me!
