My entries for the Bop Idol's have mainly been songs I have personally loved and just wanted to share and see how they do etc... The Bop Idol's cover a period of my life where I was discovering my own tastes in music and following artists and bands closely etc.. so it's nice to get some under appreciated gems thrown out there! As long as a couple of people discover them and appreciate them, I don't care *too* much about where I finish (ofc the higher the better etc..)

Always one I like.

Songs I've chosen for contests in the past that I think others would like don't often do as well as I think. And vice versa, sometimes (although not always, sadly 🤣). I thought nobody would vote for Master Jack in the Retro contest and it came 4th, I stuck with it because I enjoyed it so much. I get a lot more joy out of seeing a personal favourite do well, and if it doesn't then at least I'm satisfied with myself for sharing it.

However, of course there is a consideration to what others might think. I probably wouldn't bother with acts or songs that are clearly already provably unpopular on the forum, even if I liked them.

Yes I agree. In the ‘Best Song Contest…Lottery’ (which was my very first BJs contest) I sent a song that leaned more towards something I thought others might like. This time I primarily chose one I love, but it’s a bit unusual and I feel it might bomb in the voting!

This is the first time I’ve been part of one so it will be interesting to see what is upon us.

I tend to vote as fairly as I possibly can !

I think 15 is good. It allows for people to vote for just under half the songs.

i'd absolutely go for 15, since I got frustrated to omit 5 songs on the last Retro contest.

but I could understand why it must be just 10

Yes please. Imo all site contests should have that voting system applied above 30 entries.

Also in favour of 15 songs vote rule since we're over 30

Wonder whether that should apply to BJSC semi finals as well.

In BJSC 181 we had 32 in each semi - my entry from KÄSSY DNQed in 24th, but if you added 5 points per voter to everyone's score (which they would have had in the 15 vote system), it would have qualified.
