That Jason Derulo song is a VILE abomination.

It's a fully deserved 2010s classic IMO, brilliant song and I loved the video too. Over the next couple years you could certainly hear a lot of other songs trying to copy it. It was slightly weird that LMFAO is an uncle-and-nephew duo, but it turns out they weren't all that far apart in age.

I always found that weird too as they look to close in age to be uncle/nephew, but it's obviously possible.

I wonder if they'll ever make a comeback? I kind of assumed they'd just take a few years' break at the time.

I always thought that'd release more music too. Thankfully for me they didn't though. 🤣

Redfoo did have some solo hits in Australia in 2013-5 when he was a judge on The X Factor Australia and I think they could've very easily been LMFAO songs.

19 – Swagger Jagger – Cher Lloyd

1 Week at #1 / Weekly Sales – 66,316

#112 in EOY 2011 – Total Sales of 209,000

Coming in at #19 is the fifth X Factor related #1 of 2011. Cher Lloyd rose to fame after finishing in fourth position of the 2010 series of the show and even from just her audition she was nothing quite like what the talent show had seen before, I swear watching back her audition you can see the dollar/pound signs in Simon Cowels eyes like he’s a cartoon. The road to fourth wasn’t always smooth for Cher either, she finished in the bottom two twice and was saved by the judges both times despite receiving the fewest votes to save both times. Swagger Jagger seems to be quite a polarising song with people either loving it or despising it and whilst I enjoyed it when it was released I did get sick of it quite quickly, whilst now it kind of sits in that ‘so bad it’s actually ok’ type songs. As annoying as the song can beat I do find the chorus to be insanely catchy and it’s quite often got stuck in my head for days. It's also mentioning some of the lyrics from this song like "You can't stop Youtubing me, on repeat, running this beat" and "You can't stop clicking at me, writing 'bout me, tweeting 'bout me". I don't think I paid too much attention to them at the time but I'm guessing Cher was copping some flack around this time? I get the feeling that it’s placing here is quite a lot higher than people would’ve expected as well.

Swagger Jagger sold 66,316 copies and was the second ten consecutive one week #1’s which went from August to October. The song also received criticism for the chorus sounding to similar to American folk song Oh My Darling Clementine and to this day I think of the cartoon Huckelberry Hound every time I hear this song.

That narrows it down to 2 then.

3 by my count Adele, Nicole Scherzinger and Cher Lloyd.

Though Adele was never a part of a group or ensemble #1, so you may have been referring to the latter two.

Yeah I forgot this counted as a first solo for Cher. Slightly memory lapse already lol. Not a fan at all. Hugely irritating and crap for me.

Dappy being the other one I think as he was on 'Number One' with N Dubz.

It's not that I don't like her voice at all - "Green Light" from last year is fantastic - but "Swagger Jagger" is an absolute no for me. It makes me aggessive - the refrain is so oversung - in my bottom 3 100%.

Quite a statement debut single, not sure it was in a good way, but the album had some better stuff on it. Living by the seaside growing up, the melody Oh My Darling Clementine just reminds me of amusement arcades at the beach which always had that melody pumping out.

'Party Rock Anthem' was truly everywhere at the time. I feel pretty indifferent about it really. A bit of harmless fun but not something I'd seek out.

Cher may have been the X Factor act I've been referring to lol I remember her being marketed as very cool and current on the show, although some of that hasn't aged well, like the version of 'Viva La Vida' she did with the "bells ring-a-dinging" rap - how was that being eaten up at the time💀but she had her moments, like the haunting version of 'Stay' by Shakespear's Sister. Fast forward to the debut single and both "swag" and "jagger" feel very of the time. Cher's aforementioned audition was a cover of 'Turn My Swag On' so the 'swagger' word made sense for her personally. It was amusing that Mick Jagger was having such a resurgence in pop culture at the time though - with the mention in Ke$ha's 'Tik Tok', obviously 'Moves Like Jagger', 'Swagger Jagger'... to the point where he ended up featuring on that top 3 hit 'T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)' with will.i.am and Jennifer Lopez *_* sure why not. I remember enjoying the production of 'Swagger Jagger' at the time but the lyrics are pretty cringeworthy. I can't help but ironically stan the tweeting and YouTube-ing lines specifically though.

Oh this is great fun, works well in a party atmosphere club especially if the video (without the annoying non-music intro) is on screen. Not heard it ina while and its sounding good still. Good natured laugh. Went top 20 for me so I wouldnt say it was a big fave as such at the time, but it's aged well, I think I enjoy it more now in these fun-free chart times.

I know it's highly maligned and objectively tat, but I can't help love it lol

This being a #1 and 'Sirens' being a #41 feels criminal though.

I mean for me it's in the so bad it's good category. 🤣

Also I don't actually ever seek it out to play, I think when I listened to it for this it was the first time in 12-15 years I'd heard it.

Ah yes Dappy, that makes 4.

Oh right I've got what you mean. Was getting mixed up with being in a band going to 1 and then a achieving a solo #1 but yeah your right with Adele lol.

I should imagine she will be right at the end anyhow.
