Speaking of Mr Brightside, I went to a 90s weekend in Butlin’s and someone asked the DJ to play Mr Brightside and they still did. I thought that the DJ or the person must be getting their decades mixed up. Ask for it at a 00s weekend yeah but that person obviously can’t tell their 90s from their 00s

I think they are allowed to play songs from different records just the acts are from that decade, I went to the 2000s one last month and Sam Bailey sang a few Whitney Tracks 🤷‍♂️

Surprised they had Sam Bailey at a 00s weekend but then again, they don’t do 10s weekends. Brass In Pocket gets played more on 80s radio stations than it does 70s radio stations and as for Mr Brightside, I’m sure Fearne would refuse to play it on her show if someone requested it

They had sam bailey, chico , honey g , ben haenow and Daniel Johnson for the X Factor night, had professor Green, wideboys, female attitude , ultrabeat, Louise and a few tribute acts , then Aston merrigold and JB were djs 🤷‍♂️

I really want Shakira and Burna to get to number one! Have been streaming away! Think would be amazing for Shakira. And it does genuinely feel like the song of the summer. I do love RMI but think it’s had enough now. I also want Bryan to keep his record (which he prob will?)

They’ve already passed Bryan’s 16 weeks - although of course he holds most consecutive weeks.

They are currently tied with Frankie Laine for joint most weeks at #1 (18).

Played Sam's record busting tune for the first time in a month or so, every little helps

I think I’d like Rein Me In to be Number 1 this week and then Dai Dai next week. I really like both the songs but it would be a massive chart moment to have a new longest running number 1 song ever (and might help to pique interest for more casual people again)

I mean RMI is gonna be number 1 for another week regardless (its not going on acr any time soon after all) even if Dai gets it this week whereas I don't know if Dai can ever get as close to number 1 as it is this week so RMI really don't need the record broken this week when they're gonna get the record in a couple weeks anyway

This would be ideal but Ms grande releasing her album on friday might make that problematic

On that note, it would be interesting to know if anyone can think of an artist who had a hugely successful album, and everyone thought they had reached their commercial peak, only to release a bigger album later in their career?

Oasis maybe? Definitely Maybe to What’s The Story.

Plus if Dai Dai did it this week then RMI next week it would extend its own record for separate visits to #1 in the same chart run as well as breaking the all time record so everyone's a winner.

I'd imagine she'd debut at #1 but no guarantees it'll hold up so RMI could easily overtake the week after. Myself and I'm sure a few others thought Harry Styles' comeback track would be #1 for 9+ weeks at least but it managed just the solitary one!

I really can’t see RMI troubling the top spot again after this stint.

Ariana’s album is out next week and RMI is naturally declining on streaming.

I hope they get it this week as it’ll be a huge news story which might get some people interested/looking at the official charts again.

All it would do is remind people how dead the charts actually are, just like One Dance a decade ago. Actually I don’t think it would even make a dent in the news.

Shakira all the way, it’s so extremely rare we get a woman over 40 (nevermind almost 50) at #1

@___∆___ beat me to it plus it is also on 1 week of decline already there doesnt seem to be much coming up that would give it a boost its 4 weeks until a bank holiday (unless your scottish)

It’s already had 17 weeks I think it’d be alright!

Well hopefully the mini-heatwave this week resets it back to zero then it just needs to hold on till August bank holiday for the inevitable rise again then who knows.

18 and I never said it wasnt 🤣🤣 plus when harry styles released, rein me in hadnt even peaked in sales

Let Sam Fender have the record for now and let Wham! overtake them in a few years time

I just refuse to root for a song to have 19 weeks over a song that's yet to get a number 1 yet who's probably on its last chance to get it and an artist unlikely to ever get a number 1 ever again while Olivia D for sure will
