They should not be comparing pre and post streaming records as its apples and oranges.

It'll also be a fake break of the record if it manages it, as has happened with several other records since ACR was instigated, as it's only at 14 not 18 weeks, without ACR.

Rein Me In should benefit from likely missing Spotify data.

Another top 40 week for Mr. Brightside?

There'll also be missing Apple and YouTube data which will swing in Shakira's favour, the latter overwhelmingly so! Wonder if video streaming could actually be making the difference this week?

I wasn’t expecting Dai Dai to slightly increase its lead from Rein Me In and even though I can’t stand Choosin’ Texas, I hope it closes the gap on Rein Me In. I don’t mind Dancing On My Own reentering but Unwritten can go away

Shakira, Robyn and Natasha top 40. Artists so good that they succeeded through all of the physical, download and streaming eras ❤️

Willing Dai Dai to stay at No.1 but also surprised Sam and his team aren’t putting up more of a fight here? Maybe the Lewis duet version has some legal reason it can’t be released to download (his label didn’t approve it?), but why is Sam not armed at this point with remixes ready to go or the instrumental or something? Anything? I still wouldn’t be surprised to see him take it though as Shakira’s team don’t seem to be doing anything.

I guess Shakira’s focus is on the Latin market, but you’d still think her label would care about getting a UK #1. Gives me hope that a new English album might do decently though. She’s never really lost her cool factor.

I will absolutely be chucking a download or 2 Dai Dai’s way!

But ACR IS REAL to keep the charts flowing in the current climate and as it's instigated and maintained by OCC the record that Rein Me In could reach is official no matter what narrative tries to be pushed that "it's not genuine".

And wouldn’t Last Christmas be on 20 weeks at number 1 without ACR?

The OCC did not run the charts in 1953 and there's no such thing as an official chart from 1953 no matter what the OCC want you to think, so no, I disagree. There also was not streaming in 1953 so again it's still a fake overturning of the record as you're not comparing like with like and as Hadji says the record has already been broken by Last Christmas which is on 20 weeks...

I do care about old records being broken and yeah, let’s do away with streaming. It’s like a disease to the charts. And I will say one thing and I don’t care if you disagree because I’ll say it anyway but Rein Me In being number 1 this long is worse than the 2020 lockdown

Oh you’re just so right, just the perfect comparison honestly.

A song having a long time at a certain chart position is most definitely worse than a global pandemic that caused thousands and thousands of people to die worldwide and not able to leave their houses and spend time with loved ones wub

You’re just not a real person at this point lol

All of this is just contextual, though. The record will be broken if Rein Me In gets another week at #1, everything else is just details. The chart's had plenty of rules that have come and gone over the years, and nobody's claiming pre and post streaming are directly comparable, but ultimately it's just context around the official chart and a genuine record that will still be broken regardless of the background. It's up to you if you choose not to recognise it...!

Rein Me In will have the record for now then in a few years time, Last Christmas will break that record and the people who love Rein Me In and hate Last Christmas will be crying about it. The only way for Last Christmas to not be able to break the record if OCC do something about the Christmas songs. Also, at least Last Christmas managed its run at number 1 on ACR

My daily streaming of "Dai Dai" working *_* Come on Shakira and team, push for that #1! cheer

Please stop making assumptions about other people based on no evidence.

It sounds so fresh unlike that song that’s way past its sell-by date

Last Christmas will break the record in future whether you like it or not. What makes you think it won’t? Rein Me In fans might cry about it

Is he making jabs at people (me, usually) and then editing his posts again? Classic

I didn't say anything about Last Christmas in my post!

We are also making the assumption that last christmas wont disminish its returns like the last few years its sales at number 1 have also steadily declined 😊
