the song is a re-recording by HUGEL & Ultra Naté based on a SUNO/AI-generated song created by Imael Angel, a self-described "reiki master" who has released dozens of AI-generated "spiritual music" albums/tracks over the past few months - her version of the track has since been delisted from DSPs but the rest of her "discography" remains

I love it! And if it outpeaks ‘Free’ I’m all for it! Seeing a singer reach a new peak in their late 50s is iconic - we are always complaining about the fact that older singers are not able to chart.

And in the past few weeks we’ve had Madonna, Kylie, Ultra Nate and Sybil all reaching the top 10. This year we’ve had Stevie Nicks double her number of top 20 hits as lead vocalist. And in the next couple of weeks, ‘9 to 5’ could reach a new peak position for Dolly Parton.

(Edit: oops got my Dolly songs muddled up… but maybe Jolene could reach a new peak too).

HUGEL’s version isn’t. Imael Angel’s original is but she’s one of those ai artists who actually writes the lyrics and puts them into ai bots.

Her biggest hits have become huge classics though - 9 to 5 wasn't a top 40 hit but has sold over 2.4m chart units now, so her popularity is very much greater than the sum of her UK chart history's parts.

(plus the bar for #1 next week will likely be quite low if Rein Me In goes to ACR)

The fact that Spotify does guesswork for Thursday streams, I'm wondering if it is able to factor in major unexpected late surges brought on by such events like a superstar passing? Will its algorithms recognise the huge surge on Wednesday and replicate it for Thursday or will it just average out the daily consumption for the previous 6 days for an artist..hence majorly underestimate Dolly's Thursday streams?

The OCC has never given any details about how exactly it estimates Thursday streams. Anecdotal evidence suggests it's not very accurate for these kind of unusual circumstances. Dolly will peak next week anyway so it doesn't really matter.

It is so annoying that the day with the maximum impact just will not be counted. Do we know if these sales or the estimations count towards certifications? Because we could be looking at quite a lot of missed sales

The estimations count to certifications, the correct Thursday data is never used (not that it would make much of a difference 99% of the time).
