01 Tom Grennan - Little Bit of Love definitely one of his strongest songs - love the chorus particularly on this. His voice sounding amazing as usual too.

02 Darin - En apa som liknar dig I love the fun pop vibes he brings to this category and this is another example - love that final minute especially.

03 Sam Fender - Will We Talk? can this man put out a bad song? Another really strong track from Fender here. Consistent king!

04 Gary Numan & Tubeway Army - Down in the Park another enjoyable track from Gary - just doesn’t quite compete with the top 3 for me.

05 Calvin Harris & Disciples - How Deep Is Your Love this has never really done much for me tbh. Radio overplay definitely didn’t help lol.

06 Naughty Boy feat. Sam Smith - La La La one of those songs I liked a lot back in the day but find rather grating now. Also can’t abide that chorus vocally or lyrically - sorry!

  • I thought this round could have had some stronger songs played personally, but I guess many of the solo males are playing the long game. Darin - En apa som liknar dig - another Swedish language banger

  4. Tom Grennan - Little Bit of Love

  5. Calvin Harris & Disciples - How Deep Is Your Love

  6. Sam Fender - Will We Talk?

living for Darin lighting up this category still

  1. Sam Fender - Will We Talk? (His best ever single)

  2. Darin - En apa som liknar dig (a good find)

  3. Tom Grennan - Little Bit of Love

  4. Calvin Harris & Disciples - How Deep Is Your Love

  5. Naughty Boy feat. Sam Smith - La La La

  6. Gary Numan & Tubeway Army - Down in the Park

1 Darin - En apa som liknar dig · Yet again another banger from my favourite discovery of the competition! He just keeps delivering!

2 Naughty Boy feat. Sam Smith - La La La · Always loved this, such an earworm!

3 Tom Grennan - Little Bit of Love · Good single from Tom, though doesn't hit quite as hard as some of his other hits.

4 Calvin Harris & Disciples - How Deep Is Your Love · I'd put this in the top half of Calvin's discography even if I don't really go back to it that often.

5 Sam Fender - Will We Talk? · I do like this, I just like the four above it more.

6 Gary Numan & Tubeway Army - Down in the Park · Not really getting much from this, sorry.

1.      Darin - It's between him and Sam for my favourite male contestant of this season, another fun bop, once again I translated to English and "A monkey that looks like you!" Even better than the soft pillows. 😅

2.      Tom - This is one of my favourite songs by Mr Grennan, an excellent choice.

3.      Sam Smith - Not my favourite Sam Smith song by any means and not once I usually listen to, but still decent enough to rank 3rd

4.      Calvin - I'll be honest I was close to putting this last due to Calvin not singing on it and being a bit iffy about that, however I do like this song and the other two songs I don't really so I decided to go by song.

5.      Sam Fender - It's ok but didn't really grab me.

6.      Gary - Again it's ok but didn't do much for me

First up for me this week, the boys!

FAVE

05 Naughty Boy feat. Sam Smith - La La La

LEAST FAVE

A vaguely pleasant group on the whole.

Love the Tom Grennan song - possibly one of my favourites by him!

Sam and Calvin I’ve always enjoyed but neither are my faves of theirs.

Fender I’ve definitely heard before but it was a much more pleasant experience than I remember!

Darin’s was decent, but maybe my least fave of his so far! I’d still liknar his dig though kink

Gary was sadly dead on arrival. It’s just giving David Bowie but somehow even worse!

I'm feeling very gaslit by some of these rankings. Are there really this many people who actually like 'Little Bit Of Love'? (Sorry whoever sent Tom - I really liked your last song choice!!)

1 Calvin Harris

2 Gary Numan

3 Sam Smith

4 Sam Fender

5 Darin

6 Tom Grennan

Sadly looking like this might be time for the old man - probably my least favourite of the songs played for Gary so far but still very good, though it falls short of continuing his 1st place run for me as that is one of my favourite Calvin songs (it got a little bit overplayed at one point but it's been avoidable enough for long enough that it sounds great again now). Also really liked 'La La La' at the time, has not held up quite as well but still enjoyed it too. And Sam F bringing another good choice too. Big gaps between that and 5th and 6th - thought the Darin song was a bit better than his last 2 but still not really for me. And yeah the Tom song is not good sawree

ooooh getting to gaslight bre is fun!

That is actually my all time fave Tom G song

  1. Tom Grennan - Little Bit Of Love - obsessed with this song, actually got the RSD release of it!

  2. Calvin Harris - How Deep Is Your Love - solid choice

  3. Sam Smith - La La La - ignoring my dislike for the producer, another solid choice

  4. Sam Fender - Will We Talk - probably my fave entry of his so far. Punches more then previous songs

  5. Darin - En Apa Som Liknar Dig - nice enough

  6. Gary Numan - Down In The Park - grew on me a bit but not enough to climb up the rankings

This will be a snap ranking with Bror - I noticed my female ranking was exactly the same as Jade’s and some others too.

1 Calvin Harris & Disciples - How Deep Is Your Love: the vocals really elevate this and it’s held up well for songs of its time

2 Gary Numan & Tubeway Army - Down in the Park: this has a lovely atmosphere to it and nice to get a slower Gary track

3 Naughty Boy feat. Sam Smith - La La La: I loved this at the time and it hasn’t aged the best but I still like it

4 Sam Fender - Will We Talk?: it’s nice, though not really anything that SGU doesn’t do better

5 Darin - En apa som liknar dig: makes me think of a cheesy après ski bar but not bad

6 Tom Grennan - Little Bit of Love: I don’t get much heart from this and find it formulaic

This is the same ranking as my Male one too so just Groups spoiling the party for us this round lol (but even then, the only difference was me having Depeche Mode at #1 and Fontaines at #2 compared to your choice of the other way round - so, taste!)

  1. Naughty Boy feat. Sam Smith - La La La [favourite]

  2. Darin - En apa som liknar dig

  3. Gary Numan & Tubeway Army - Down in the Park
