December 18, 201114 yr GUTTED this never went top 10 :( The production is imo, it sounds wintery at least, well in the same way that Spice Girls' 2 Become 1 and Goodbye did. It doesn't directly reference xmas but it wouldn't sound right coming out in the summer at the same time. I know I'm going completely against the grain of seemingly the ENTIRE forum with my opinon on this song but I genuinely love it musically, I've played it 25 times in the past week and that's massive for me, I usually play my personal chart #1 only 5 or 6 times a week sometimes... I see what you mean, but I think that's both the cause and the symptom of over-sentimentality. I just can't enjoy it, I have tried to, but it just sounds like something you would hear on Songs Of Praise. Onto it now :D Thank you
December 18, 201114 yr I like 'Marry The Night'. :) Poor Jason Derulo. 'Don't Wanna Go Home' completely killed this era, imo. Edited December 18, 201114 yr by shadow2009
December 18, 201114 yr whilst the lyrics are probably the most over-sentimental I've ever heard, I for one think its harmless enough and for a good cause, a Christmas number 1 with no influence from X Factor of a Facebook campaign is fine by me :D exactly,i hope it gets the xmas no1 and think it does sound christmassy and wll be a memorable xmas no1, its literally came from no-where!!
December 18, 201114 yr I'm never tired of Marry the night. Should have been released first from the Born This Way album. Edited December 18, 201114 yr by smiffj

December 18, 201114 yr Flop Ga in this case. So much for her saying Born This Way would change music etc. The best thing is Edge of Glory BY FAR and if the whole album had that inventiveness and direction then I would imagine she would have lived up to the hype. It's rightfully done much better than 'Yoü And I'. In the UK anyway. Not so much in the USA :(
December 18, 201114 yr Last Christmas! LOVE THIS SONG! [And not just because they covered it on Glee last year :P]
December 18, 201114 yr Gaga should have released SheiBe. would have been a huge hit  It's Scheiße. Or Scheisse. Not Shy Bee.

I think a lot went wrong for Gaga with this album. The dark artistic direction is not working. The overbearing preachiness of the lyrics doesn't work for British sensibilities I don't think. Poor singles choices was the biggest of all these. Marry the Night deserved a 5 peak I think and would have gotten it had it been switched with Judas in the release history. December 18, 201114 yr The Cast of The Only Way Is Essex is going to murder this track next week I saw them do it on Daybreak, and I wish I could say it was awful, but weirdly it wasn't that bad :/

Really it should have been Edge of Glory > Born This Way > Marry The Night > Judas or Hair. She would probably had a couple of #1s and a bigger album that way.

I just can't enjoy it, I have tried to, but it just sounds like something you would hear on Songs Of Praise. I tend to enjoy pretty much anything involving a piano and strings, always have and probably always will  As I said earlier, the choir is nice enough but I wish there was an instrumental version available, I adore the music.
December 18, 201114 yr I saw them do it on Daybreak, and I wish I could say it was awful, but weirdly it wasn't that bad :/ Their favorite expression is Shuuut uuuup.
December 18, 201114 yr 3 weeks ago this went 89-23, now it's gone 89-27. Odd. Little Mix's version>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>this one yeah, I said it :P I agree, the En Vogue version is SO DULL. Edited December 18, 201114 yr by Michael Bubré
