December 31, 201114 yr Ah! I had no idea that happened! :o Thanks for doing this btw. :) Military Wives were #144 the week before, but I'm amazed that you can sell nearly 2,000 copies and only be #144!
December 31, 201114 yr They must have stopped the sales for this chart x mas day, twitter said this week this song has gone over 600,000 Yep they have, in Dave Taylor's topic, the YTD chart has Coldplay/Paradise and Olly Murs [DWMT], with MW slightly higher, but there is still sales to add to that. Which will probably work out as the Official YTD chart in the end.
December 31, 201114 yr This was a big tune. I could see lots of songs in future years have instrumental sections like this.
December 31, 201114 yr CTWYKM still the best number 1 of the year by far  technically that could change tomorrow, but even so
December 31, 201114 yr Author 15- CHRIS BROWN FEATURING BENNY BENASSI- BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE (582,800) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/18/Chris_Brown_Beautiful_People_Cover.jpg PEAK POSITION: 4 WKS IN TOP 75: 29 PEAK POSITION SALES: 45,987 With a host of cameo appearances in the video (Brandy, T-Pain, Nelly & Diddy to name a few) this Brown’s third and final appearance in the top 40 of the year. For Benassi it was his first return to the top 10 since his debut smash “Satisfaction” back in 2003. e2oRqyn7ToQ&feature=fvsr
December 31, 201114 yr Chris Brown has had a astonishing year. His best song is the highest which is good stuff to me :D
December 31, 201114 yr This must be Chris Brown's biggest ever hit too (or at least, best-selling in the UK)? Obviously helped with sales increasing every year since he started out. Same as Sweat really, one of the best dance songs of the year imo, as it's so epic, but again, it was clearly made as an instrumental, but Benny Benassi found someone who wanted to sing over it, so gave it to him. They played the instrumental version a few times on Radio 1, and I preferred that tbh. Edited December 31, 201114 yr by Eric_Blob
December 31, 201114 yr CTWYKM still the best number 1 of the year by far  technically that could change tomorrow, but even so I won't count Paradise as a 2011 #1 (assuming it gets there :P) so my favourite #1 of the year is Stay Awake, with Changed The Way You Kiss Me in 2nd :D
December 31, 201114 yr Author 14- BRUNO MARS- THE LAZY SONG (605,800) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/81/The_Lazy_Song.jpg PEAK POSITION: 1 WKS IN TOP 75: 26 PEAK POSITION SALES: 67,837 Including all his collaborations Mars has now had 9 charting singles in the UK, four of which have made No 1 including this track back in May. Taken from “Doo Wops & Hooligans” (itself a million seller), this song also became his fifth consecutive million seller in the states, whilst in the UK he became the first international act to have his first three solo singles to go to No 1 in addition to his debut album also getting there. December 31, 201114 yr Some things I'm really enjoying about this countdown: 1) The fact that it's not Reggie presenting it. Frankly, anyone else would be better, but I do like Tom Deacon, so this is a massive improvement. 2) The fact that it's actually on NYE (even though it's not the full year's sales). 3) Gezza76's rundown on here. Thank you, especially as the Radio 1 website isn't doing an ongoing update. (Unless they are and I haven't spotted it?)
December 31, 201114 yr Unpopular opinion: I still really like The Lazy Song. Good memories of the Summer.
December 31, 201114 yr Oh gosh. This song is so annoying. I thought it was a bad single choice at first (I thought he should've released Marry You third), but given its success, evidently not. I hate it though. So overplayed on the radio, despite nobody I know in real life seeming to even be aware of the song's existance.
December 31, 201114 yr Three songs now Platinum status. Bruno has had an amazing year! :o I know Buzzjack have something against him but he is one of the best new acts of 2011 (if you can call him a new act :P).
December 31, 201114 yr 14- BRUNO MARS- THE LAZY SONG (605,800) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/81/The_Lazy_Song.jpg PEAK POSITION: 1 WKS IN TOP 75: 26 PEAK POSITION SALES: 67,837 Including all his collaborations Mars has now had 9 charting singles in the UK, four of which have made No 1 including this track back in May. December 31, 201114 yr Author 13- LADY GAGA- BORN THIS WAY (616,200) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/11/Bornthisway.jpg PEAK POSITION: 3 WKS IN TOP 75: 33 PEAK POSITION SALES: 82,487 With a blaze of publicity and anticipation was anything as widely awaited and widely expected to Debut at No 1 as the return of Gaga in 2011? Experimenting with OA/OS the track was available on a Friday and rapidly sold over 60k to debut at No 3 come the Sunday, it lead the following midweek charts but faded before the weekend to make No 3 its peak position, had it been delayed by 48 hours then doubtless this would have been a chart topper here much like in the US where no trouble was experienced. xl0N7JM3wZk&ob=av2e
December 31, 201114 yr I love the Lazy Song for its simplicity. A great tune with not a lot to it. Artists try so hard to be 'ground breaking' with their music these days but I believe a large chunk of the public still would rather hear a simple catchy tune. Well done Bruno, underrated on BJ but at least a fair amount of the public seem to like you.
December 31, 201114 yr 'Born This Way' is a brilliant song. But I still prefer 'Judas', 'The Edge of Glory' and 'You & I'. Her singles this era have been awesome!
December 31, 201114 yr I have no idea how this managed to sell so well. It's alright, but nearly 650k? really?
