Very exciting week - Pink/Ne-Yo/The Script and Little Mix all in contention for #1. Owl City's 'Good Time' EP has been released - at #10 on the albums chart; could mean it holds a place in the top 5 this week. Great to see Plan B looking to make a return to the top 40 with 'Deepest Shame', after 'iLL Manors' dropped out pretty quickly and 'Lost My Way' only managed #117 I thought the soundtrack era would be fast-forwarded.

Having purchased Ne-Yo and The Script, I'm supporting either for #1 this week, though I'm not entirely bothered if Pink gets it either. Would be nice to see 'Good Time' climb to #4 this week - just to have Little Mix's held back release tumble 01-05.

How can people call Ne-Yo's new song rubbish and not even acknowledge how uninspired and generic Pink's new single is? And this is coming from a big Pink fan. Definitely one of her weakest, if not THE weakest, lead single from her ever.

I'd rank her lead singles:

1. Trouble

2. Stupid Girls

3. Get This Party Started

4. So What

5. Raise Your Glass

6. Blow Me (One Last Kiss)

7. There U Go

That may be but her song is still miles better than Ne Yo's tripe.

You mean most of the discussion for the past couple of pages?!

Oops, all I've read (before the last few pages) is crazy stanning for Pink's single and criticism of Ne-Yo's new song.

Tbh neither are anything special or terrible. Both just very generic rehashes of their respective past singles. I'd have preferred 'Cry Baby' to be a shock #1 this week but Melanie's performance has been sadly overlooked. :(

That's all it has been, tbh. With just a select few claiming otherwise. I do find it funny how people are slating Ne-Yo's song, but are praising P!nk's despite them both being in very similar situations with regards to genericness. But I think Ne-Yo's sounds more fresh for him, to me personally, as it doesn't sound too much like his previous material. Whereas P!nk's is just very P!nk-by-numbers really. She should be progressing more with her sound by now imo. The last album that wasn't "P!nk-by-numbers" was her 'M!sunderstood' era. That was the point in which she was trying to find her true self she found it, and is now milking it. She's had a greatest hits now, she should be developing her sound a bit more, imo.

I sound like a 'Blow Me (One Last Kiss)' hater (which I'm not), I just don't like how average it is for a P!nk song when she's capable of doing much better. Hopefully the future singles/material is better.

I still like Stupid Girls a lot though :)

I think Lost My Way was only a promo song, and iLL Manors did alright considering it what it sounds like.

Completely agree. I can't help but think of the whole female bias debate on this forum when reading through this thread. 'So What' was rather generic in the first place but that had at least had something slightly different about it. Plus the video was hilarious!! BM is just underwhelming. I would say that I'm Not Dead was actually her last non-Pink-by-numbers album though. Songs like 'Who Knew', 'U + Ur Hand' and 'Dear Mr. President' seemed really fresh and there's not another Pink song like them. That and M!ssundaztood are definitely her best records overall. While Funhouse was different in terms of theme, it was too monotonous because of just that.

If she wants to copy past singles, at least copy the classic ones like 'U + Ur Hand', 'Family Portrait' or 'Don't Let Me Get Me'.

EDIT: Meant IND was her last NON Pink-by-numbers album.

I understand why people have that opinion and to a point i agree but I do find Pink standard fun pop songs a positive thing. Maybe it's because theres too much out there that sounds the same. I don't want her to progress into a clone of everyone else. I do feel that the tempo wherever hearing it on radio is extremely slow for some reason and kinda want to go more faster. Even if she falls to somewhere like I predicted I wouldn't be upset because another top 10 single is still amazing considering how long she's been around.

Just because Blow Me isn't a fist-pumping pop-rock anthem I don't understand how it can be seen as unoriginal? Yes, the song does have an electro/dancey feel, but it's almost as if P!nk has taken that genre and made it her own - added everything that we love her for. It is definitely one of my songs of the year, I just hope she can start... to... pull... awayyyyy.

It's not unoriginal compared to other artists' material - it's unoriginal in terms of Pink's own discography. You even said yourself that Pink has "taken that genre and made it her own". She certainly has since every one of her lead singles sound the same as the previous - more noticeable from 'So What' onwards.

Pink's song has an actual meaning to it a lot more than most of what's in the chart. It's not all about how it sounds. I first heard it when I'd had an extremely bad day at work and it fit my mood perfectly.

I think thats why I like it mainly because of the words and meaning. It makes you feel better if your having a bad day. I first listened to it feeling rubbish and then it lifted me from whatever i was in

P!nk is only so high due to pre-orders (although I'm shocked she's climbed so fast with such an average, song.) and I think she's just playing the 'All Fired Up' role to Ne-Yo's 'All About Tonight'. Still pretty confident Ne-Yo will go to number 1. (Although I'd prefer a second week Little Mix - but Ne-Yo is my favourite of the new releases)

It was this time last year that All Fired Up went up against All About Tonight wasn't it?

You Sir have A LOT of time on your hands!

It didn't take long to make up that list

I much prefer P!nk's voice over Ne-Yo's voice. Plus the meaning/lyrics to the song is much better.

Anyway, P!nk (1.00) increases her lead on Little Mix (0.75) and The Script (0.80). :)

01 So What

02 Stupid Girls

03 Trouble

04 There U Go

05 Get This Party Started

06 Blow Me (One Last Kiss)

07 Raise Your Glass

I do like them all but the bottom 2 are underwhleming imo. I do still like Blow Me (One Last Kiss) though, and it's easily the best new release this week, so I'm very very glad it's doing it (even if I'd prefer Wings for a 2nd week, but I know that can't happen).

It actually was, this exact week this time last year

DELIGHTED for P!nk

I was fearing that offensively horrendous Ne-Yo song would make it to #01, so yeah, verrrry happy.
