November 20, 201213 yr ALBUMS: 1. Rihanna - 35.000 (Half of what 1D did in the first day) Surely that's not right! That's far too low!
November 20, 201213 yr Good RiRi is underperforming. Latest single has made a much smaller impact and TTT was rubbish. This album has been churned out too quickly.
November 20, 201213 yr Author ALBUMS: 1. Rihanna - 35.000 (Half of what 1D did in the first day) 2. Led Zeppelin - 28.000 3. Little Mix - 22.000 What's your source for the above Surely that's not right! That's far too low! Hmmm... I really don't know it could be right as the sales for LM matches with one of the previous posts.

Though think we are gonna have to get used to low numbers even this Xmas, as the market shrinks it will even shirk the busy end of the year.
November 20, 201213 yr Wow if Led Zep really are at #2 and coming for rather impressive sales. Has there been any precedent to this that I missed? It seems to just be some live album? It's only #21 on iTunes as well, although with it being certified gold already it's obviously going to be a far stronger physical seller. If only it was a certain other live album out this week at #2 :P 60k in two days for 'Troublemaker' is brilliant, he should be in contention for at least the second biggest sales week of the year although not sure he'll quite beat Cheryl. 'Something New' at 39k in 2 days is also great, hopefully a 100k+ top 2 this week. AC/DC 'Back In Back' is now top 30 on iTunes with various other versions in the top 1,500, would love to see it in the top 40 for the first time this week.
November 20, 201213 yr A guy on UKMIX posted it at the Rihanna thread that Rihanna was selling 7K more than Led Zeppelin and that she had sold half of what 1D sold at the same point last week. Dont know if its real. Anyway... 1 day sales of 35K is not that Low... 1D sold half of the whole week's total in the first day... I dont think Rihanna is in the same case. I think she can multiply it by 3 instead of 2.
November 20, 201213 yr Yes. A terrible performance of 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' on Children in Need. I think she's lost "it" as a singer. She also sang Abba's The Winner Takes It All on ITV Daybreak last week. Sounded fine to me.
November 20, 201213 yr I'm finding it hard to believe Rihanna's only done 35k - she had great pre-orders and has the fanbase to give her a great first day. If she's really only done 35k then I'll expect 90k or so first week which is rather disappointing to say the least. But then Talk That Talk was coming off the back of We Found Love and Loud selling shitloads, this is coming off the back of both a smaller single and smaller album.

Although I think Loud was released earlier than Unapologetic.
November 20, 201213 yr As someone stated above, TTT was very mediocre so people who bought that might have just been disappointed. I know I'm not buying the new one without listening to it first.
November 20, 201213 yr Didn't Loud open with 90k? Although I think Loud was released earlier than Unapologetic. And Loud was coming off the back of Rated R, which only sold 600k or so. Talk That Talk and Unapologetic (I think?) have much bigger launch pads.

Rihanna's profile was at its largest back when the Loud era started I believe. Which is one of a couple of reasons the album did very well.

November 20, 201213 yr Christina down to #102! Dome Nico @SaintPreux Uk Midweeks: #Lotus 102 (28) > O - U - C - H! Bionic seems like a smash right now!! break 'em records, xtina!
November 20, 201213 yr Perhaps for Rihanna to match One Direction's sales she needs to release 7 separate versions of the album?
November 20, 201213 yr Perhaps for Rihanna to match One Direction's sales she needs to release 7 separate versions of the album? But in fairness the exclusive individual band covers were sold in HMV only and apart from a few wild fans on Monday that snapped up 6 copies [The Yearbook and individual sleeves] most people did and still are only buying 1 copy.
November 20, 201213 yr Excellent sales for Olly in just two days. So happy for him. Definitely looking to be way past 100k then :D Ouch at Christina's album.
