There was Bruno Mars' 'Just the Way You Are' falling to #4 before returning to number one. Although that wasn't the following week - I think there was about 3 weeks between it's time at #1.

It went 1-2-4-2-1-3 :P

Yeah, 3 weeks between being #1 instead of one. 'Boom Boom Pow' and 'I Gotta Feeling' both returned to number one, although I think they may have both went 1-3-3-1 rather than just 1-3-1

Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow - (32 Weeks) 23/05/2009 -{1}-2-2-1-2-3-3-6-7-11-13-13-16-18-21-24-33-37-44-47-54-58-64-65-66-67-51

Both only dropped to 2 between spells at number 1

It went 1-2-4-2-1-3 :P

Yea it was a contestant on XF who performed it meaning it rebounded up with big sales!!

I thought 'Big When I Was Little' was such a poor comeback single for Eliza (it kinda made me think of Lily Allen), and that, coupled with her being away for quite a while has resulted in the flop album. Which is a shame as I've listened to it a few times and think there are some really great tracks on there and it's a very strong album.

Eminem - 'Rap God' is probably the worst song i have heard all year. How you all would prefer this over OneRepublic at #1 is beyond me.

'Berzerk' was actually decent, and 'Survival' isn't bad either. But this 'Rap God' horrendous pile of s**t doesn't even deserve top 40, it is utter garbage and you all need your heads examining!!

EMINEM IS NO "RAP GOD". ONEREPUBLIC FOR #1.

What a rant  my head doesn't need examining, as I prefer OneRepublic, thank you very much -_-

Midweek Charts update: Pearl Jam, Cher heading for two-decade highs

Source: MW

by Paul Williams

Pearl Jam and Cher are set to score their highest-charting albums in two decades in a top five joined by fellow veteran Paul McCartney.

Pearl Jam's new EMI album Lightning Bolt ranks is a new entry at 2 in the latest Official Charts Compnay midweek artist album rankings, placing them higher than they have been since Vs reached No 2 in 1993. Two places below them at 4 is Cher's brand new Warner Bros set Closer To The Truth, which is on course to secure the singer her best UK chart position since the retrospective Greatest Hits: 1965-1992 reached No 1 in 1992.

Sitting between Pearl Jam and Cher currently is Paul McCartney whose new Hearmusic/Virgin EMI album New is at No 3 and should be boosted by an appearance by the Beatles legend on Graham Norton's BBC One show on Friday night (October 18).

Island act John Newman continues to lead the Sales Flashes with his debut album Tribute, while Sony Classical's Jonathan & Charlotte show up as a new entry at 5 with Perhaps Love, meaning the entire top five is currently made up of new entries. Last Sunday's No 1, Bangerz by RCA's Miley Cyrus, is down to 7, while Polydor's The Saturdays make it six brand new entries in the Top 10 with Living For The Weekend at No 8.

Interscope/Polydor's OneRepublic look like returning to the top of the singles chart on Sunday with Counting Stars rising 3-1 in the week so far as Miley Cyrus's RCA-issued Wrecking Ball falls 1-2. There are four brand new releaes in the Top 10 led by Juliet from Global Talent/Polydor's Lawson at No 3 and also including Interscope/Polydor's Eminem who now has two titles at the top table with the brand new Rap God at 5 and Berzerk dropping 2-6. Ram/Virgin's Wilkinson is new at 7 with Afterglow and EMI's Iggzy Azalea featuring TI new at 10 with Change Your Life,

btw the highest climber in the singles is by 2 places from OneRepublic

Actually it is the joint highest climber with James Blunt.

FAIL.

To think James Blunt could have been top 3 this week if not for Eminem's late release :o (Inevitably Lawson will end up at 5 but that's not bad for them)
Oh, I knew Paul McCartney would overtake Cher but was hoping it wouldn't happen. She should stay at #4, especially since she's on BBC Radio 2 from 2pm with Steve Wright.

In the singles we have lost Justin Bieber [Heartbreaker], Lucy Spraggan, Haim, Jasmine Thompson, Jason Mraz, DJ Fresh and Arctic Monkeys, biggest faller of the week goes to John Newman (Cheating) down to #22, and Lady Gaga is down to #40. Jason Mraz is bound to return next week to the 40 after someone on the X Factor show tomorrow gives the track a blast -_-

As for the albums, if sales are close at the top Paul McCartney might topple John Newman after his spot on Graham Norton show tonight and the biggest falling album goes to Lucy Spraggan down to #29.

It would be great to have a sales indicator of how well the top 5 albums are selling.

YES at 'Rap God' in the top 5! I think the top 5 will likely stay as it is now unless it's very close between Lawson/James/Eminem. Another (probably) flash-in-the-pan top 3 hit for Lawson then - does anyone even remember how the last one goes? 'Taking Over Me' is possibly the most forgettable of their singles despite being the highest peaking (although it was the lowest selling of at least their first 3 singles, not sure if 'Brokenhearted' outsold it or not).

The Paul McCartney situation kind of reminds me of the week Hugh Laurie's second album was out, I thought Hugh might have sealed the #1 after a promo slot late in the week but he still ended up some way behind so I think John is still relatively safe at #1. Paul could well climb to #2 though. Hard to tell when we don't have sales info besides John being 3k ahead of Pearl Jam on Wednesday.

Actually it is the joint highest climber with James Blunt.

FAIL.

Depends on your definition of 'highest', 'Counting Stars' is the highest song in the chart to have climbed. :P
