I also think Harry Styles is nailed on for number 1 next week, the sound of his new material is apparently similar to David Bowie and Queen. I hope it is not too derivative but the fact that it is being compared to those Greats suggest we should be in for something good.

Harry Styles is the Victoria Beckham* of 1D, he should easily get to #1.

“Out of Your Mind” holds the record for highest first week sale of a Spice Girls solo single, yet was released last out of the four.

OMG ACTUAL KIDZ BOP IN THE TOP 10 MIDS   Never thought I'd see this day.

Good to see the top 40 getting a good reshuffling this week too with album tracks dropping out.

Rag 'N' Bone Man should get the Number 2 Album this week, it's holding up really well!
Her album is out this week, not top 40 at the moment.

AS SAD as I am am see it so low, I am really not surprised. It is a shame nelly isn't promoting any real singles for The Ride. Stone Cold Truth is great.

Was Victoria seen as the leader of the Spices at the time, too? I genuinely have no clue, I never followed them that much. I would've guessed one of the girls who was a better singer would have been the biggest member.

Me too.

I'd have thought Victoria was the least popular, with the least talent

Why is Kidz Bop being so popular now?

Isnt it an US thing thats been going on for ages?

This is the first time they've released outside of the US.

I would say Melanie C was the lead singer.

I too would have thought Melanie C was the lead singer and Victoria the least important member in relation to singing talent. Victoria is now the most famous Spice Girl by far and most successful but not musically.

Indeed, although at least in more recent times Victoria has been the most popular member in the media (I can't speak for their original time, I wasn't even born when Wannabe came out :kink:). It's a bit like Girls Aloud - Nadine was the lead singer but Cheryl was the one in the public eye, and the one with by far the biggest solo career so far. In terms of 1D, Harry was probably the closest thing they had to a lead singer and is also the most popular with the public.

Geri "was" the Spice Girls but she was by far the worst singer. Mel C was the best singer and I believe she did most of the high notes.

Wow! Even though you were not born then, do you realise how massive they were at the time? There hasn't been an equivalent since in terms of a pop band reaching their heights of success and popularity so I'm just really curious that's all as to how they are viewed from people who didn't experience the Spice Mania in the 90s :-) ...

The best way I could describe is...imagine 1D's popularity and times that by about 50!

Of course! I've been filled in by our very own Jay :kink: Wannabe is a song I still hear all the time out and about and it's pretty impressive to look back at their sales, it's quite unimaginable as like you say, there's been no-one quite like them since!

Really hoping Galway Girl or Clean Bandit may nab the no.1 spot this week, getting fed up of Shape of You being no.1. I do like the song but its spent a stupid amount of time at no.1 now.

In regards to the Spice Girls, Geri was by far the most popular member back during their 90s heyday and was seen as the leader of the group. She even managed a decent solo career for a time (and holds the record for most consecutive no.1s by a female solo act) but didn't exactly have the best music or singing voice. But during the 00s Victoria has grown to be the most talked about member due to her high profile marriage, successful fashion career ect and has gained a lot of popularity, especially in the states.
