September 16, 20178 yr Awee Andrew thanks  And yes I saw a lot of people typing Botannika instead of Botanikka ;) I am imagining Botanikka to be a giant forest with elf style houses in the trees.
September 16, 20178 yr Author Fljótavík means a cove in Icelandic which is 1. pretty cool and 2. matches my country shape. I assumed you just named it right after the Sigur Rós track :P (which maybe was the case anyway)
September 16, 20178 yr I assumed you just named it right after the Sigur Rós track :P (which maybe was the case anyway) Oh that did play a part but it sealed the deal when I found out what it translated to...
September 16, 20178 yr As my music taste tends to be less poppy that your average Buzzjacker, I wanted to include "Alt" somewhere in the name. I went with Alteria as it sounded a lot like "ulterior", and I'm a sucker for a pun.
September 16, 20178 yr I was randomly contemplating country names and realised that if I chose 'Niceland' I could make a very easy pun with the flag... (one of my 'interesting' potential name choices was Devland, in honour of King Dev *.* & I was honestly planning on revealing my votes in the wrong order in my first contest :P )omg
Yesterday at 00:271 day I know I'm bumping a very old thread, but with so many new nations joining in the last few years alone it would be good to revisit a thread like this, not only to hear of new countries but to revisit some meanings behind some of the older ones too.So @matto as the thread starter, you get to begin! Let's learn a little more about Deandria again. 😁Of course anyone else can take part too if they want to share the inspiration behind their country name choice, and perhaps if they would ever consider changing it in the future?
Yesterday at 08:361 day Author Gosh don't bump my old posts xo (I'm too scared to even look lmao)8 hours ago, awardinary said:So @matto as the thread starter, you get to begin! Let's learn a little more about Deandria again. 😁Deandria means absolutely nothing I mean, it's actually a girl's name, which I only found out later, but when I came up with the name I just came up with something random sadly. I was 17 and didn't really take the contest too seriously yet.

I named my country after this special move which would always guarantee an instant kill no matter who the opponent. It wouldn't happen all the time, as his moves were selected at Ramos, but when that it did happen, it was a great feeling to know that victory was imminent. Zanmatony likes to believe that someday they will secure their first victory too. :DStill after that first victory!!
22 hours ago22 hr Not many are aware but Baleghde is actually a cheeky nod to my favourite barn animals (Ba = Sheep, leg = chicken, de = germany)
22 hours ago22 hr Zephyra Continuum was generates by chatgpt - I looked for something sounding like a nation existing in Star Trek Next Generation and it gave me some suggestions of which I chose Zephyra Continuum.
21 hours ago21 hr News just in, the people of Persephonia have a fear of purses, there are reports of people throwing them into fires. 🔥
21 hours ago21 hr I used to think it was named after Persepolis which was the capital of the Persian Empire.
20 hours ago20 hr My country name comes from my username, which literally just comes from me misspelling 'geronimo' when I was seeing up my first email address. LolThe first iteration of my country name was Juranaland (a highly inspired choice, I'm sure you'll all agree).I then renamed my country Juranabaijan as, despite being a hideous nation (not the people public living there, of course), Azerbaijan consistently did well in Eurovision around that time, which I hoped would rub off on my results (and Azerbaijan is a pretty cool name) 😂I briefly renamed the country Brokeback Mountain*, as I was obsessed with the film for a while, before reverting back to Juranabaijan!* I see this is listed as an affiliated country on the wiki site thingy. I'll make sure to update that!
19 hours ago19 hr New Lexico...is New Mexico with one letter swapped so it resembles my username. Simple but effective, unless we're talking about winning points!
