Eminem on 71k and Ed on 41k. Eminem could do this

That margin is bigger than I expected - I would think both will now get 100k+ sales this week.

for now, till someone else is available to fill in the rest.

Good sales for Eminem he will probably do between 110k-120k I should think

I was expecting both eminem and ed to be around 50K today on albums

so eminem doing much much better than expected

and ed doing ok/slightly less than expected

Eminem is doing as well as I expected, was surprised that so many of you were writing him off. "Walk On Water" not smashing the charts up didn't mean much because it's an unorthodox track.

I second this.

Knew he was going to have pretty decent first week sales, think he may be in with a shout of 150k or not far off. Can't see Ed overtaking him but he may close the gap.

Holding out hope Adele may come from nowhere and steal the xmas no.1 single

A large percentage of the Christmas songs are moving down this week and same with some Christmas albums.

All in all, it has been a disappointing revelation on the midweeks this week.

I wasn't writing him off. Told you all weeks ago that he'd have the Xmas No.1 if he released his album this week. Good sales. Can't see Ed making up a 30k gap but he will close it a lot.

I would think a large percentage of Eminem's sales that we have so far seen came from Friday and Saturday. Ed Sheeran has had his promotion after that point so is likely in a stronger position to close the gap. The question is, can he close it enough to overtake.

I would think, win or lose this week, Ed Sheeran will easily take the number position next week.

Great sales in the albums, real chance of two 100k sellers which I didn't expect even last week. I really didn't know how Eminem would sell it is so difficult to tell these days when albums by big artists with huge singles behind them selling averagely in the albums market so 71k at this stage is brillant!

Still a chance for River in the singles too imo!

Unless there's some kind of big sales surge for 'River' later in the week (or its streaming skyrockets more than it has already) I don't see how it'll close an 8k gap, if anything it'll probably get bigger. 'Perfect' has a large sales advantage and is only a little bit behind on Spotify.
Yeh your right prob just stated that in the context that I thought he would be further ahead. Total sales for the xmas chart topper should be higher than Rockabyes total but not much above 65k!
Despite not being a Christmas song, a sappy Ed Sheeran ballad does seem the right Christmas number 1.

3 Wham! - Last Christmas (22,802)

4 Rita Ora - Anywhere (12,035)

5 Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You (12,009)

Wow the Wham campaign is kinda working, but why is Mariah flopping this week??? ://

Mariah will certainly overtake Rita to #4 as she has better streaming, which is good considering Wham have a campaign behind them and there's also the new Eminem/Ed song as well as Ed's Perfect.
Looking at the Compilations Chart, it will be interesting to see how many copies Now 98 sells since I think I'm correct in saying that over the past decade every then current Now album has sold over 100,000 copies in the week leading up to Christmas. In fact from what I can see this possibly stretches back at least 20 years though I'd need to check to be 100% certain.
I'm gutted 'Stay Another Day' isn't Top 100, but I guess that's down to it being on ACR?

Serves it right for pretending to be an Xmas song!
