December 16, 20178 yr This year is probably the least interest I’ve had in the xmas charts. Couldn’t really care who is no1 as not much out that I genuinely like right now. I’m sick of Ed Sheeran - he’s overrated.
December 16, 20178 yr I prefer Ed at # 1 in the singles chart. Edited December 16, 20178 yr by Good Old Days
December 16, 20178 yr Looks like Eminem is going to do the double this week! Eminem gone straight to #1 on Spotify with River
December 16, 20178 yr An Eminem double would be incredible. Reviews getting better after the mixed start, seems cool to hate in him at the moment. The album is strong and he is back. Shame he had to release with bloody Betonce which ruined his momentum. He should have just released nothing then made 'River' a single the moment the album came out yesterday. Hype would have been bigger.

Hype would have been bigger. It might not have been the huge success his team were hoping for, but I think it did it’s job in getting people talking about Eminem again. River is bound to be a big hit over the start of the new year. I expect it will hog the #1 spot for a while come January, which isn’t a bad way to start the year (especially this far into his career).
December 16, 20178 yr It's refreshing to see an actual Xmas chart battle happening from original artists, with the X Factor and its hate campaigns nowhere in sight. Really hope this trend continues in future years. Granted Wham is a campaign of sorts but its not against the X Factor and it was No.3 last week on its own merit. Anyway I think Eminem's pretty much nailed the No.1 album. Its doing very well on streaming and given his last album did 143K in its first week, I reckon he may surprise everyone with its sales this week. His last album didn't exactly have a huge lead single either, The Monster took off as the album came out if I remember rightly. In fact Recovery was the same.
December 16, 20178 yr If Kylie can get top40 this week I'd be happy, ideally mariah Carey will go to number 1 but can't see it happening.
December 16, 20178 yr Author Christmas Number 1 2017: Ed Sheeran, Eminem and Wham go head to head after 24 hours 16 December 2017 | By Rob Copsey It's shaping up to be a three-way battle for the 2017 Christmas Number 1. Ed Sheeran is leading a three-way battle with Eminem and Wham for the 2017 Christmas Number 1 after 24 hours, OfficialCharts.com can confirm. Official Charts Company early sales reports (based on pre-orders and early sales data up to midnight last night), indicate that Ed Sheeran opens the week as front-runner in the biggest chart race of the year. Ed’s latest single Perfect is currently just ahead of new entry from US rapper Eminem, River (2), which also features Ed. Wham's Last Christmas is riding on both of their tails at Number 3. Last Christmas is the best-selling song ever never to reach Number 1, and this year a campaign backed by bandmate Andrew Ridgeley has been launched to get the festive classic to the top one year after George Michael's death. Christmas hits by Wham!, Mariah Carey and The Pogues have also been proving incredibly popular on streaming services in 2017, so expect to see a streaming boost for these classics in the chart as the week progresses. Elsewhere, AC/DC’s For Those About To Rock (We Salute You) opens at 22, following a fan campaign in remembrance of the late Malcolm Young. Michael Ball and Alfie Boe's all-star charity single You Bring Me Sunshine, featuring Jason Manford, Imelda Staunton Gareth Malone and more, is at 37, while Ralph McTell's Streets Of London - reworked with Annie Lennox and the Crisis Choir - is just outside at 41. Money raised from the single goes to Crisis. See the full list of Official Christmas Chart contenders. But there is a long long way to go yet. The majority of streams still have to be counted, along with 6 days of sales, the race is still wide open at this stage. Whoever you're backing, this is the time to get behind your favourite contender. This year’s Official Christmas Number 1 race kicked off Friday, December 15 with the cut-off point for sales and streams to be counted toward the chart being midnight Thursday December 21. Look back at every Official Christmas Number 1. The Christmas Official Chart Top 40 will be counted down on The Official Chart on BBC Radio 1, Friday, 22 December from 4pm. The full Top 100 will be published on OfficialCharts.com at 5:45pm.
December 16, 20178 yr C'mon Kylie! There was me claiming she'd never have another top 40 hit again, and it looks likely she will this week.
December 16, 20178 yr I'm a little sad Eminem + Pink's song is not doing better. It's my favourite of Eminem's recent singles (and I say that as a HUGE Beyonce fan)
December 16, 20178 yr Eminem doing 35k day one, which won't include streaming figures, is really good. Should easily pass 100k and wouldn't be surprised if his album approached 150k. Will be interesting to see how Ed's album does, especially after his performance on the Strictly final. I'm hoping Wham! will manage the #1 in the singles chart and will build momentum as the week goes on.

December 16, 20178 yr Eminem x Ed Sheeran was always gonna be a hit, I guess the next single will be whichever performs best as an album track (which could be almost any really. Need Me, Remind Me, Heat, Offended, Bad Husband are all superb)
