Hate/dislike the music all you want, but Spice Girls are not overrated. They changed pop music in an era full of "britpop" and dance/trance music. They literally changed the game!

This! They smashed like no other.

The Saturdays did some great pop songs and were more authentic than the overrated Spice Girls.

It's a shame they didn't release any of them

That's exactly what makes them overrated (in my opinion!!1) tho. They achieved massive success and influence despite releasing mostly mediocre music. 'Overrated' isn't an objective description x

I think you might have a different opinion had you lived through their hype and everything that made them special though

I lived through it and hated it. Taking part in the official opening ceremony of the studio where they recorded their first demo is not one of my fondest memories.

Overrated they may be but anyone suggesting that the Saturdays were at all better needs to get in the sea pronto.

I can appreciate the huge impact the Spice Girls made and I like some of their music but I way prefer the music of the Sats  Ngl probably the best girl group of all time

I was in my local HMV (Dundee) today and half the staff were wearing HMV/Jess Glynne Tshirts. Interesting bit of promotion going on there! :D

Yeah they did that with Now 100 in the summer as well. Wonder if they'll be doing that with any other Q4 releases?

The Saturdays were a sort of interim girl band to remind us that such things existed between GA/Sugababes and Little Mix becoming a thing tbh

Not forgetting All Saints they were a big thing, I remember the chart battles they used to have with The Spice Girls back in the day.

Sorry for jumping on the bandwagon ;)

They definitely benefitted a bit from lack of competition, not that I’m putting down their success. I know they’re regarded as flops but they had pretty good longetivity for a pop band! <3

The saturdays were so bland. They did ok seeing how rubbish they were.

But despite their longevity, they didn’t really release anything memorable. They’re remembered about as well as Pixie Lott.
