December 4, 20196 yr Robbie is a cert for the #1 album this week then, great news for him. Won't be become the most successful solo artist on the albums chart if he get's to #1?
December 4, 20196 yr Most likely on 27th December but if DM goes onto ACR on the week beginning 13th December then it gets interesting.  I think she's more likely than Wham to do it.
December 4, 20196 yr Yeh def her previous steaming performance is generally consistently ahead of Last Christmas except in the year when George passed away but that was on Christmas Day itself anyway.
December 4, 20196 yr 12 number one albums plus 3 others wth take that I think. He has 4 #1s with Take That (the 2nd and 3rd of their 90s albums, 'Progress' and their first Greatest Hits) and 'The Christmas Present' will be his 13th solo #1 album. His only studio album that didn't get #1 only lost out by about 1,000 copies to JLS as well iirc! Not sure how close 'Live At Knebworth' was to #1.

His only studio album that didn't get #1 only lost out by about 1,000 copies to JLS as well iirc! Not sure how close 'Live At Knebworth' was to #1. Live at Knebworth debuted the same week as Dido's Life for Rent so was way off (117k vs. 400k). Would have easily been #1 the previous week against Muse who sold 71k to be #1 - in fact, 117k would have been enough to reach #1 any other week previously in 2003! Reality Killed the Video Star indeed lost out by 1k - extremely unlucky, especially when sales were as high as 238k!
December 5, 20196 yr Ah  not quite as close indeed then... it'd be quite something if he'd released both of those albums on less competitive weeks and been heading for a 15th consecutive #1 album comprising the entirety of his solo chart appearances.

A JLS album managed 238k in one week? Wow. I don't ever remember them being THAT big but clearly they were!
December 5, 20196 yr It is quite an amazing presence in the charts Robbie had and not only in the UK but also in Germany or the Netherlands. I am normally not a fan of Christmas albums, the Christmas Present is however very good in my opinion
December 5, 20196 yr A JLS album managed 238k in one week? Wow. I don't ever remember them being THAT big but clearly they were! I'm really disappointed this was brought up again as I'd forgotten about it 😂
December 5, 20196 yr Don't forget progressed also went number 1. That was counted as a return to #1 with its sales combined with the original album.
December 5, 20196 yr Nice to see Robbie take the top spot anyway from Coldplay, big fan of both acts so win win. Although i'm not really a fan of Coldplays new album and Robbie I went off after HES, but still nice to see them both add no1 albums to their tally.  Think this will make him tie with Elvis again for the most no1 albums by a male solo artist. They previously tied back a few years back but Elvis pulled ahead with another re-hash of his back catalogue. I wonder if he can manage to go Platinum with it, if so thats all of his album releases that have managed it. Also I know people are tiring of it, but it is quite the feat that Tones and I is on lock for a 10th week. ACR has made it really difficult for a song to hold the top sot for longer than 9 weeks so Im glad something is defying their stupid rules.

December 5, 20196 yr Makes sense, only reason they got the top spot. They also had versions with a different cover per member, so the hardcore fans were buying up to 4 at a time to get each members cover.
December 5, 20196 yr Massive eyerolls at everyone being salty at JLS having a number one album 10 years ago. They were huge a decade ago with reason, they bought the boyband kicking and screaming into this decade, deal with it.
