Yeah I have the mask as far up my nose as possible and then specs on top. Seriously contemplating sorting a contact lenses box out for the days when I need prolonged mask usage

Putting your mask right up to just below the eye and having the glasses over the fabric stops fog in my experience :magic:

I always do this but air still penetrates even if I wear the non-reusable ones with elastic bands (that don't make my ears look crazy).

Boris has found his PM mojo. Positive and firm at the same time.

Yeah... with his proverbs, botched metaphors and pretty words in the wrong places. Maybe all the involuntary mitt-punching and erratic mid-air gesticulating gave that impression though, I dunno. 🤷‍♂️

I must say I'm "deeply spiritually reluctant" to take the man seriously in any capacity.

Lenses are a bitch especially if your eyes get dry really fast. I even stopped wearing them to the gym.

I feel like Nicola Sturgeon does a great job with the way she comes across when giving her speeches but I'm in agreement with you regarding Boris. He doesn't come across well when reading out prepared Speeches at all.

The only reason I never made the switch was I got headaches when staring at screens which is a bit useless these days.

I really need to venture back to the gym....

Genuine question...what does wearing a flimsy mask have to do with panic attacks? How does it trigger them? I'm not saying you don't suffer from panic attacks in general but what is it about a little cloth over your mouth and nose that causes them? I keep seeing so many people say this but if you're only wearing it for a few minutes in a supermarket or for a short bus journey are you saying you really can't do that?

Well I can hardly breathe when I have one on so it stresses me out which may bring on panic attacks. Have only had them in the last 2 years since losing my daughter, never in my life before that. Can't breathe too well anytime really with being so overweight. :( Also am in the supermarket 30 minutes to an hour usually, just browsing. At least 30 minutes anyway. Who spends just a few minutes unless they only want one or two things?

I haven't seen any evidence yet, but I suspect it will start happening. I'd probably say it was quite wise too to have a little extra in with Brexit looming.

We know someone who went to Costco on Sun. and they were definitely buying extra loo rolls, 4 or 5 packs each. Long queues to enter and to pay like before. Yes it's a warehouse to buy in bulk as someone on another forum pointed out to me but usually people buy one or two packs of 24 Andrex not 5 or 6 at once. They were buying lots of flour, yeast, pasta, cases of Heinz beans too.

I couldn't find any tinned ravioli or macaroni cheese yesterday and still no tinned green beans anywhere.

Do you not think that falling into multiple at risk categories might make it safer for you to wear some kind of mask and batten through the panic attacks? If you don't breathe so well anyway going into the supermarket without a mask on seems like a big risk.

It doesn't bother me really.

+6,178 new cases in the UK today.

Only two days have seen a higher number in the entire pandemic, both in April/May (of course - testing wasn't as comprehensive back then, and probably not picking up even 1/10 of cases).

Most newly confirmed daily cases:

01 May - 6,201

05 April - 6,199

23 September - 6,178

Ah great, time for everyone to collectively lose their shit.

Aside, can we now make a fifth thread as this has surpassed the usual threshold of 50 pages.

It's a worrying trend, but you can't read too much in to the case numbers vs April/May. Can't see anything but household visits banned in a couple of weeks time.. but you've got to give it time yet.

We’ve been told we need to wear masks in communal areas from tomorrow to inspire the kids to do the same. I have no issue doing this but it doesn’t make me feel like it’s very safe to be in work. No social distancing between the kids is a nightmare because to them, it really does feel like the pandemic is over. They behaved very differently when they were back in July with social distancing.
Hapless Hancock is now saying that he wishes we knew back in February that asymptomatic carriers of the virus could be infectious. This is disingenuous at best. We knew in February that a large proportion of people with the virus experienced only mild symptoms. It was, therefore, reasonable to conclude (as I did) that there were also a lot of carriers who experienced no symptoms at all. As we knew that people with mild symptoms could pass on the virus, it was, surely, sensible to assume - in the absence of any evidence to the contrary - that carriers with no symptoms were also potentially infectious. To assume otherwise was an act of gross negligence.

I seen a report showing someone who works in a hospital has been infected THREE times by the virus, each time it got worse.

Maybe in a month or so with rising cases and less deaths people will relax a bit more?

Isn't it "official" launch tomorroe anyway?

Seems like they have just rushed it out and it doesn't work properly anyway. I think the problem with Track & Trace in general is it not properly operated outside of London from everything that I have seen..

You’d guys are only getting this now 😂 how many months has lockdown ended???

They say this morning that it doesn't work on older I-Phones, only newer ones.
