October 6, 20205 yr The chart runs for albums this week will feel so weird as well   I wonder if a load will reclimb next week or is that just as competitive. Tbh I think it’s overdue in a way to get a shake up like this it definitely makes things exciting. The album charts become a big stagnant too.
October 6, 20205 yr it's actually surprising that Levitating is so high, it's not doing that well anywhere, not even combining the 3 versions

Assuming next week won't be quite as busy, I imagine a few albums will definitely reclimb next week - it will be like what happened to singles like 'Chained To The Rhythm' the week that Ed Sheeran had 17 of the top 20 singles!
October 6, 20205 yr They ALL say they will retire once blah blah happens but has anyone ever delivered on their promise in the end?! I guess more CASH DOLLA MONEY BILLZ come their way to change their minds. The 'I want to be a good dad' excuse can easily turn into 'I wanted to provide a good future for my children' when he eventually retires at the age of 81.

Yeah, very few artists will actually deliver on a promise of early retirement - music is in these people's blood, it's what they do, even without the cash incentive they probably can't help but wanting to keep making music. If Ed did actually say that in so many words, it was a bit naive of him really.
October 6, 20205 yr Really though, Ed never said he was actually going to retire in that article - I read it as just taking a break.
October 6, 20205 yr Lauryn Hill is one artist that springs to mind who had a MASSIVE album, and then decided that she didn't want to make music for the sake of it, and has stuck to it for 20 years.
October 6, 20205 yr They *kind of* returned recently, but in terms of actually recording & releasing new music, The KLF set a good standard of how to go out with a decisive bang.
October 6, 20205 yr Lauryn Hill is still very active, saw her live last year. I don't know why her bar of releasing an album is so high though.
October 6, 20205 yr I think Lewis Capaldi is trying to get back into the top 10. He’s releasing 500 copies of the test pressing version of the album. Wouldn’t be surprised if he releases more if the 500 sell.

October 6, 20205 yr Róisín stands no chance of staying top 10 then which is a shame. Also can't see Sufjan staying top 20 either :(
