That would mean hospitality would be closed for even longer this year than last year, despite the fact we have a vaccine now.

Even government speculation on a re-opening date is just daft at the moment until we see how the vaccine rollout progresses.

Fantastic to see Morrisons leading the way with that!

Ideally everywhere should be following suit and refusing entry / asking for proof of exemption. My work are just pandering right now between taking the leap to refusing entry and just letting customers do what they want, saying that we’ll let them in on that occasion with a slap on the wrist but next time they could be refused. :drama:

Yes well done Morrisons. They say police WILL be called to remove awkward or violent customers.

Others like Asda and Tesco will hopefully follow suit.

TFL needs to do the same. I mean like 95% are compliant from what I've seen, but you always get those few idiots that aren't and clearly aren't exempt.

I get some staff may not be trained for this, but really, what are the point of the rules if not to be enforced?!

After over 80,000 deaths, 3 million cases and 10 months of the UK epidemic, Morrisons have become the first supermarket to confirm they will not allow entry to people without a face covering or proof of a medical exemption.

they are truly levitating

Agreed entirely. I suppose it is drawn up in plans somewhere but I think a lot of it depends on the vaccine spread. Regardless, I don't think anywhere hospitality based will be open until April.

Also Doctor Blind - to quote your earlier post about your Nan's covid vaccine follow-up - both my mum and brother in-law have had theirs and have follow up dates booked for late March. Altough they are both frontline NHS staff so maybe it is being adminstered differently.

It needn't be the ordinary staff but even British Transport Police aren't enforcing masks, according to what I've been told. They have the same powers of arrest as any copper does.

Anyone see that old woman on the news, ranting and raving cos her appointment for her second dose today has been cancelled? "We're the forgotten generation" LOL. She should be grateful she's had her first jab.

The worst thing about delaying second shots that had already been scheduled is the time GPs (or their staff) have had to spend contacting all those patients.

My parents are both getting their first jab on Friday - at separate times, unfortunately.

My sister as a nursing student and bank nurse worker has got her first dose. She is most at risk from our whole family of getting it and passing it on to my folks and my dad had a stroke a few years ago so we’d rather not bring it into the house. (Even tho I flew home I quarantined before and after and have generally been quite cautious here. And now have tested negative thrice so defo didn’t catch it and bring it home)
Wales have been really slow rolling out the vaccine. My grandad is 89 on Wednesday and he hasn’t been contacted yet.

Some good news.. case rates appear to be declining now in the areas that had the tightest restrictions over Christmas and did not allow household mixing on Christmas Day (london and SE)

Still huge rises elsewhere however, worryingly in parts of the NW of England.

To follow-up on this, the Police have dropped the fine and issued an apology.

The right call - but not great that this ever happened in the first place. What's even more bizarre is Matt Hancock said he backed the Police on this specific incident ???

It’s not very consistent with his views on Dominic ‘what any father would do’ Cummings.

There were two women yesterday at Bournemouth beach who were fined for sitting on a bench but the thing is that they were outed as covid conspiritards doing what they did deliberately, hoping for the police to catch them out so they could video it and put it over social media to turn people against the police. Nice try ladies, we’re not stupid enough to fall for your bullshit lies

Well done Morrisons and Sainsburys, the other supermarkets should follow suit in my opinion.

My mother works in Aldi and every day she comes back stressed as hell :(. People are in there every day without masks, or masks under the noses... no social distancing or respecting the staff, families having a nice stroll down the middle aisle. I really hope the rest of the supermarkets follow suit and also instruct stricter measures like limited number again.
