November 2, 20214 yr This reminds me to check on the increase the other remixes of 'Shivers' have had since yesterday... 2,992,661 Alok Remix 2,593,448 Acoustic Version 1,941,811 Ofenbach Remix 341,151 Navos Remix Just dividing the totals by the number of days they've been available, they've done on average ~142k, ~83.7k, ~80.9k and ~11.0k per day since release respectively although obviously those are worldwide and they are all likely doing less than that per day now. Update today: 3,071,032 Alok Remix (+78,371) 2,683,298 Acoustic Version (+89,850) 2,060,644 Ofenbach Remix (+118,833) 364,727 Navos Remix (+23,576) Was definitely not expecting that the Ofenbach remix is now the most popular of the four! The Alok remix seems to have been quite frontloaded but the other three were all running ahead of their average per day although tbf that may just be partly because of the day of the week lol. 310,630 between the four versions globally yesterday anyway (pre-filtered numbers but there surely can't be many people spamming these remixes more than 10 times in a day so can safely ignore that), no way of knowing how many of those are from the UK but the main version got 11.5% of its global streams yesterday from the UK so if it's the same for the other versions collectively that'd be ~35.7k. Probably not enough to have put it ahead of 'Easy On Me' combined the other day then unless the streams of remixes are a lot more UK-based but still making up a large chunk of the gap.
November 2, 20214 yr Imagine using a reissue and remix album and a 2nd jazz album with the same old crooner to try and prove an artists isnt generic or boring. I'm sure the general public and even Gaga fans were on the edge of their seats to get 3 albums in a row that were just rehashing stuff already done. Using your logic Ed''s last album was a collab album of a lot of different genres, his last Xmas number 1 had remixes with Beyonce and a classical singer and he has a Christmas song coming out with Elton John and an album of original material out this week too. He's still boring and generic. And why are you belittling a remix album with LGBTQIA+ artists who are totally unknown to the general public saying this is generic but at the same time saying that a love song remix — clear trap for aunts and moms — with Beyoncé would be something unique and out of the box? Do you really think about what you type before posting? Imagine saying a remix album with LGBTQIA+ artists and a jazz album in the streaming era is not risky but saying an album with collaborators like Justin Bieber and Khalid, a remix of a love song with Beyoncé and a Christmas song with Elton John is something risky. I assume you come from an extremely traditional family to think that way.
November 2, 20214 yr I bought the three ABBA CD singles for £3.99 each just for the novelty of having ABBA CD singles. But unless Adele signs those CDs of hers, I can’t see many people going for them
November 2, 20214 yr Given Ed seems to be stabilising on Spotify, I wonder if he can manage to have the highest steams for an album this year? I’d like to think he will but who knows, I can see it holding up like Sour did when that came out at least.
November 2, 20214 yr A remix album with the likes of Pabllo Vittar, ARCA, Ashnikko, Bree Runway, Shygirl and others is safe but an album packed with names like Bruno Mars, Travis Scott, Eminem, Stormzy, Bieber, Cardi B, Camila Cabello, Khalid, 50 cent, Chris Stappleton and others (something more like a hit compilation than an actual album) is very risky… I think I've seen it all on this forum by now. November 2, 20214 yr Literally everything other than chart predictions is being discussed in this thread :michelle:

November 2, 20214 yr Ed Sheeran is basically hospital food :D :D :D who wants to eat hospital food? :D

I didn't actually see the part where Sammy said that Ed was being risky, just that his output was just as much as GaGa's by your logic of all her rehashed stuff... but read into it whatever you will. Also praising Gaga's LGBTQ+ artists but then dismissing Elton John is a big wtf tbh... do you really think about what you type before posting?
November 2, 20214 yr I bought the three ABBA CD singles for £3.99 each just for the novelty of having ABBA CD singles. But unless Adele signs those CDs of hers, I can’t see many people going for them It acts as a collectors item though - the website even highlights it as limited edition. Adele might not have many singles but her star status adds a lot of weight to stuff like this. I don’t see how it is that different to ABBA’s release.
November 2, 20214 yr I don't think the LGBTQ+ comment is the point... not that it matters to me but there's a definite difference between using your platform to promote unknown LGBTQ+ acts in a remix album and duetting with quite possibly the most famous LGBTQ+ artist of all time. edit - also can we please be conscious to prevent this whole debate from getting overly personal towards other posters as there's no need for it to head in that direction.
November 2, 20214 yr Also praising Gaga's LGBTQIA+ artists but then dismissing Elton John is a big wtf tbh... do you really think about what you type before posting? That's quite a reply, given that you've adopted quite a selective interpretation of that post. Immediately after saying LGBTQ+ artists, the post says "who are totally unknown to the general public". That's the important point there. And it's what makes it a more interesting move on Gaga's part, than a Christmas duet with Elton. Nowhere does the post suggest that Elton is somehow an inferior or less important representation of the community. Simply that a Christmas duet with him is undoubtedly playing it a lot more safe.

Also praising Gaga's LGBTQ+ artists but then dismissing Elton John is a big wtf tbh... do you really think about what you type before posting? What I said was about the fact that Gaga is extremely versatile and ubiquitous in various music genres and various areas of entertainment rather than getting stuck making generic pop music with superficial lyrics for straights like Ed does (because that's all he does), belying what he had said about Gaga earlier. And I'm not referring to Elton (I love him) but to their duet being a Christmas song, which is not at all risky, especially if released on Christmas. Do you have interpretation issues?

Playing it safe is having these unknowns on a remix album, where as her main albums have Ariana Grande and Tony Bennett on them. Let's celebrate those unknowns by sticking them on a remix album not even her hard-core fans care about.
November 2, 20214 yr Ed Sheeran is basically hospital food :D :D :D who wants to eat hospital food? :D Hospital food is a bit harsh, aeroplane food I would say! :D

November 2, 20214 yr Yep I'm verging on locking it for a while... can we just move on now. Pointlessly bashing artists on either side isn't much fun :(
