I can't see that happening, she's not the kind of artist that would record a Christmas single. She's not Ed!

I'm really not sure what you're implying here?

I just don't know what you're saying the 'kind of artist that would record a Christmas single' is? + Ed Sheeran had also never recorded a Christmas single until this year so I'm not sure why he's the comparison point here!

Christmas songs aren't exactly a particularly niche thing, lots of artists in all genres and all levels of the industry have made them. I don't see any reason Adele would never do so.

Actually both released albums in 2013, and did similarly:

Swing both ways [747k]

Since I Saw you Last [723k]

Of course Robbie used to be huge but I'd say they're pretty similar in popularity right now

Evident by Robbie's much larger sales for both their most recent solo & Christmas albums... he's still a lot more popular than Gary solo.

Lol what's with the over-analysing? I didn't mean anything in particular by it, good or bad, simply that I can't imagine Adele recording a Christmas song. Most artists who record Christmas songs are fairly prolific anyway, Adele comes out of hibernation once every few years to release an album, so I don't think a Christmas single is particularly high on her check list. Unless she proves me completely wrong next year by recording her long-awaited duet with Peppa Pig as a Christmas song? :)

I don’t think Adele would ever be someone to record a Christmas song, either. She’s not that type of artist at all.

I didn't know what you meant and was curious for you to elaborate a bit, that's not 'over-analysing'...

(thank you for actually answering this time, I kind of get your point re: her not being a prolific artist and the Ed comparison makes sense in that context)

Overall Robbie is a far bigger artists looking at consistently huge album sales not only with TT but also as a solo artist from 1996-2015! Gary is probably considered a better songwriter etc!

Big year 2022 for the official chart turn 70 next year

Hopefully they will run another best #1s vote like they did when it was 60 years old

Or Mariah Carey or George Michael, or Michael Buble or Kylie Mingoue or Kelly Clarkson or Leona Lewis or Lady Gaga.... the list goes on.

I mean Slade were probably the biggest band in the UK when they released Merry Xmas Everybody
Imagine Dragons :o and it would be 11 places higher too if it wasn't for the Xmas invasion!

It’s a shame that we won’t get an all-Adele top-3, but it’s still amazing to have three songs in the top-5 on the second week of album release.

And the top-5 albums seem to be set now, Ed won’t be able to overcome this gap now.

Adele might just fall short of 100k on the albums chart. It looks to have slowed down a little towards the end of the week.
