Just think by the end of next week Adele will be over 400k
Great sales for Adele should be on 109k by Friday imo and Westlife and Ed close to 40k! Be interesting to see how and if sales rise in the build up to Xmas in the next few weeks!
I think Adele will have a very strong week leading into the Christmas chart and easily beat this week's sales.

Hopefully Adele can sell 100k+ on the Christmas album charts. In the last 3 years the sales of the Christmas number 1 have been poor:

31-Dec 2020 III Paul McCartney 33,079

26-Dec 2019 You're In My Heart Rod Stewart 71,330

27-Dec 2018 The Greatest Showman Motion Picture Cast Recording 68,606

28-Dec 2017 Revival Eminem 131,622

29-Dec 2016 Together Michael Ball & Alfie Boe 109,594

31-Dec 2015 25: Adele 449,870

27-Dec 2014 X Ed Sheeran 214,451

28-Dec 2013 Swings Both Ways Robbie Williams 126,330

29-Dec 2012 Our Version Of Events Emeli Sande 177,696

31-Dec 2011 Christmas Michael Buble 317,114

25-Dec 2010 Progress Take That 330,251

(dates are chart week ending dates)

I think the pandemic was partly to blame though for 2020's really bad Christmas week numbers. Most of the UK were in a lockdown/very tough restrictions scenario the week leading up to Christmas.

Slightly off topic but I forget that at times. Living in Australia we were out of lockdowns at that time and things for that brief period had gone to COVID normal. I guess with no lockdowns sales might improve this year.

Forgot Paul McCartney was number one last year!
So did I! When I was looking up the sales in the BuzzJack archive I was actually surprised to see Paul McCartney #1 for last Christmas.

Eminem as a Christmas no.1 album - very topical and festive! :D

Forgot how grim sales have been the past few years :drama:

Used to love the days of the Top 10 all selling 100,000k +

Hell, I remember when you had to sell closer to 10k albums to reach the top 75 during Christmas.

Last year was really bad

Paul McCartney only got to @1 cos he had like 25 different vinyls 😅

The whole top 10 sold very little

I think albums at 9 and 10 didnt even sell 10k

As much as I love some of these Christmas songs, AIWFCIY and LC especially, now that they’ve both finally hit number 1 I’d be glad if they only made low top 10 each year, kind of bored of them going top 3 every year now !
To think Girls Aloud missed the top 10 with Chemistry which I think had over 30k sales and now it would be enough to get a number 1.

this is the Xmas album top 10 last year, #10 sold 9K...
