just curious, was wondering what is everybody's favourite Kate Bush song?

is it Running Up That Hill? or something else?

for me, it absolutely is Running Up That Hill, such an incredible song, melody, singing, lyrics are al perfection

my 2nd favourite would probably be This Woman's Work, I think that's a bit of a lost gem

I’m not sure I have just one favourite… I’m a huge fan of these in particular:

Cloudbusting

Running Up That Hill

Hounds of Love

Experiment IV

This Woman’s Work

Moments of Pleasure

The Man With the Child in His Eyes

I love other songs too but they’re probably my absolute favourites

Impossible to name one favourite, but I might as well give a push for Be Kind to My Mistakes, a song that was played in the movie Castaway (1986) and later appeared on Hounds of Love reissues:

Running Up That Hill, This Woman's Work and Babooshka. Also like Wuthering Heights but I wouldn't say I absolutely adore it. Still pretty iconic a song nonetheless.

Like Don't Give Up as well!

I think This Woman's Work closely followed by Running Up That Hill. Both are gems *.*

Get Out of My House rides the barrier between genius and insanity.

This Woman's Work is incredible.

Wuthering Heights is my favorite number 1 single by anyone.

The Big Sky

I love 'Running Up That Hill' to bits and am happy to see it getting a resurgence, but sometimes I wish people would realise she does actually have other songs!

She also has this unreleased track called 'The Gay Farewell' which i've always been drawn to though I know very little about it!

Ah yes. I always thought that was a bit of a pre-cursor to Kashka from Baghdad:

“Cloudbusting”, “The Big Sky (The Meteorological Mix)” (obvs), “Wuthering Heights” and “Hounds of Love” for me. I think it was the Futureheads cover of the latter that got me into her music and of course I later realised the sample from “Cloudbusting” used in the Top 10 hit by Utah Saints. “Wuthering Heights” is also incredible because of how young she was when she wrote it and it going on to be a UK #1 (her debut).

Of her more recent output, I really loved “King of the Mountain” too, and I do love “Running Up That Hill” so it's incredible to see it being discovered by a whole new generation. <3

Oh yeah, Coffee Homeground from Lionheart (which is often over-looked because it was basically cobbled together from tracks that didn't make it on her debut, though it deserves a better reputation than that) is a homage to good old caffeine paranoia:

Well, you won't get me with your Belladonna, in the coffee,

And you won't get me with your arsenic, in the pot of tea,

And you won't get me in a hole to rot, with your hemlock

On the rocks.

Hounds Of Love. No! This Woman's Work! No! Maybe Running Up that Hill. Then again there's Wuthering Heights. The Man With The Child In His Eyes. Sat In Your lap is an unappreciated gem. Wow, Army Dreamers, babooshka, The Sensual World, Don't Give Up, and of course the track nobody remembers, which I have on the Aspects Of The Sensual World extended CD: Ken.

Ken was a Comic Strip Presents track for one episode of the TV series whereby the GLC was disabanded by thatcher and was reimagined as a Hollywood movie starring comedians pretending to be Hollywood megastars.

Robbie Coltrane – Charles Bronson as Ken Livingstone

Dawn French – Cher as Joan Ruddock

Jennifer Saunders – Brigitte Nielsen as the Ice Maiden (a parody of Margaret Thatcher)

Rik Mayall – The deposed Lord Mayor of the City of London

Adrian Edmondson – Charles, Prince of Wales, Giles "Cricket Bat" Portland

Peter Richardson – Lee Van Cleef as Tony Benn

Leslie Phillips – Sir Horace Cutler

Keith Allen – gay councillor / 1st Beefeater

Spot Lily Allen's dad in there.

Wikipedia:

Kate Bush wrote and performed the instrumental score and theme song to the episode. The lyrics include the line "Who's the man we all need? Ken! Who's a funky sex machine? Ken!" In a 2014 show for LBC, Livingstone said "I don't know if you'll be applying for tickets to go to Kate Bush's new tour, but don't forget, she did one great song – "Ken Is The Leader of the GLC" [sic] – which I've still got at home. It's very good."[1]

The song appeared as an extra track on her 1990 single "Love and Anger" along with "The Confrontation" and "One Last Look Around the House before We Go...", short extracts from Bush's instrumental score to the episode. The soundtrack also features Bush's 1985 hit single "Running Up That Hill", and extract from "Waking the Witch" taken from the 1985 Hounds of Love album.

I've got the box set...

I would have to say Running Up That Hill. Its basically pop perfection! such a gorgeous, flawless song! But I also have a personal attachment to wuthering heights as It was one of the first songs I ever heard, my dad played it to me as a youngster and I still love and adore it so much too!. So RUTH as her best with wuthering heights in 2nd!
The 12" version of Running Up that Hill even better.

Wuthering Heights is probably my favourite, Running Up Thay Hill, Babooshka and Rubberband Girl being amonst my other faves.

'Wuthering Heights' for me too! It's completely spell-binding  as is a lot of her music but especially that one for me. In awe that she was so young when composing and performing it.

'Hounds of Love' is my favourite body of work by her though!

1. This Woman's Work (I worked on analysing this song for my dissertation so it's very special to me)

2. Oh To Be In Love

3. Them Heavy People

4. Army Dreamers

5. Babooshka
