Beyoncé is now on 23.2k and her data now includes vinyl (2.8k) and her CD sales are quite a bit higher (4.5k) so there we have it, the data was late to be added! It's up 7.4k compared to yesterday's midweeks, so it seems the data must have only been added into today's midweeks.

Beyoncé's store actually has a UK version - https://shop.beyonce.com/en-gb - and Sparky9204 mentioned yesterday that their vinyl had a return address for Leeds, so it seems some of Beyoncé's stock was allocated to the UK, so it can be counted to the UK chart. I'm still convinced based on past occurrences that they wouldn't have counted if it came from a US online store though.

I wonder if she will be able to clear 30k?

You've not accurately grasped what Kelis' issues were. She didn't ask for writing credits on Beyoncé's 'Energy' song. She was annoyed that her song 'Milkshake' was interpolated into 'Energy' without ever being informed about it - she only found out after the song was released. Kelis felt that if Beyoncé and/or her people had called her to run the idea by her, then this would have been courteous. After all, 'Milkshake' is her song and it's her vocals that were interpolated.

Kelis has bad blood with the writers of 'Milkshake' (Pharrell and Chad Hugo), from her perspective they swindled her out of having any rights to her first few albums. Therefore her feeling is that Pharrell/Chad giving permission for 'Milkshake' to be used was on purpose to annoy her.

The 'La la la's' amounted to 16 seconds at the end of 'Energy', they've been removed. They were somewhat in the background so it's not too noticable that they've gone, but for Kelis this is a win because Pharrell/Chad can no longer profit from it.

As for the slur word being removed from another song of hers, that is obviously a commendable action. While it is a shame that it was used in the first place, as has been mentioned it isn't generally considered offensive in America, specifically within the Black community, as it has a different intended meaning. Nevertheless she has a wide audience of listeners and for many it is first and foremost a slur. So it was right for Beyoncé to remove it. Promptly changing that lyric is what makes Beyoncé an artist of integrity in this situation.

You have no idea how the music business works. Beyoncé is not making courtesy calls to people who have no rights over the music she wants to use. That’s not how it works.

To call her the spawn of satan for not making a courtesy call is beyond the pale, regardless.

Just like there is nothing more that people like to do than to deprive disabled people of basic human rights that non-disabled people take for granted every single day... for instance when I went to see a special subtitled screening of a film since I am profoundly deaf and cannot understand them without captions, which by the way I had to travel to another city 2 hours away since my city wasn't showing the film subtitled at all in the 20+ cinemas we have, most people in the audience complained that the subtitles were ruining their enjoyment of the film!

Beyonce showed respect to those for whom that word is horrendously offensive and good for her. It would be equally as offensive if a white person used a racist term for a black person on their record and she wouldn't like that at the end of the day.

Please do not associate the use of the word s*** with n***** ever again, please. That is very ignorant and not the same, AT ALL.

And effectively saying the word "sp*z" is acceptable isn't ignorant? okay

Not in the context Bey used it. She certainly didn’t use it as a slur. It is a commonly used word in AAVE and white people from the UK need to stop trying to police it. Thank you.

Commonly used or not, it would be in poor taste not to consider fans in the UK (after all, with some variations, we speak the same language and that word carries weight). It's not just a typical swear word, it's an offensive slur, but there's no point engaging in this any further as you're refusing to listen to the people who this word affects so I'll allow you to live in your ignorant bubble.

Thanks for the update on Beyonce's sales, and good the vinyls are counting towards the UK chart

I agree that if you bought the album on a regular US store and had to import the vinyl and pay taxes, then it wouldn't count

But with there store it's a different situation, I bought the vinyl from Denmark thru her website, but once in her website I got a pop up window saying something like You're in Denmark, do you wanna be transferred, and I got into a version of the website in Danish, with Danish prices etc and when the vinyl arrived I didn't have to pay taxes or anything. So in a way it's like buying it on your own country and should count for your charts.

Whether I know how the music business works is totally irrelevant to this discussion. I only mentioned in my post what Kelis herself said, which is that she felt it would have been polite to have been contacted to discuss 'Milkshake' being interpolated. So... don't come at me with that. Read more carefully before you leap in with hostility.

It's intent vs. impact. Beyoncé's intent clearly wasn't to offend people, but the impact of hearing that word used is harmful and offensive to disabled people. Clearly Beyoncé and her team had absolutely no issue with editing it out swiftly, so that really should be the end of the matter.

Saying "white people from the UK need to stop trying to police it" is minimising the voices of disabled people, which obviously includes disabled Black people (this is not simply a white issue).

I'm glad this was the situation in Europe too, thankfully Beyoncé's team were smart with this approach and made sure all of her sales count!

Beyoncé's sales so far:

12,694 Streaming

4,553 CDs

3,159 Downloads

2,772 Vinyl

As well as being midweek #1 overall, she's also heading for #1 in the physical chart, the vinyl chart, the download chart and the streaming chart!

OneRepublic on their 1 place climb each week pattern!

Or.. maybe not this week then if Harry will return to top 10 with CD's being batched!

Edited by Roba.

oh that vinyl number is bigger than I thought.

hopefully all the people paid 31 pounds for shipping contact the website and get refunds.

(I saw someone saying he got refunds and only paid 6~7 pounds for shipping)

Looks like As It Was and Green Green Grass have increased compared with last wednesday, so likely that they both will be reset.....; though this may be due their being less data missing this time so they may still show a decline by week's end....

Edited by braindeadpj

Glad to see more data for Beyoncé. Hopefully there's more yet to be added and she can pass 30k!

Shame she didn't release the video for "Break My Soul" to secure the #1 spot on the singles chart too. Although the release of all the remixes could help boost its sales/streams just enough to get to #1 potentially!

The poster used the race card in another post in the discussion too. It’s nothing to do with race 🙄

I'm hoping that as it was avoids the increase, along with green green grass, both have had their time
