Like any advertisement really, the 'BUY MY CD AND WIN A CHANCE TO TALK TO ME :o :o :o ' will be in big bold letters whilst the *you don't actually need to buy the CD and can just enter here part is in tiny letters at the bottom. A lot of people will not think past the big bold message.

New £4.99 Ren download just added to his site - I think he’ll get the #1 tomorrow :cheer:

Ren is now ahead of Rick by 350 sales!

From the OCC: https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/r...number-1-album/

Welsh artist Ren has spectacularly pulled ahead of Rick Astley in the race for this week's UK Number 1 album.

With less than 24 hours to go until the Official Albums Chart will be result decided, the singer, rapper, writer and producer Ren is in the midst of performing a heroic attempt to score his first chart-topping album in the UK with his second full-length record, Sick Boi.

After being stuck behind pop stalwart Rick for most of the week, in the last full day of the race to Number 1, Ren has just leapfrogged into pole position, pushing Rick's new album Are We There Yet? down to Number 2.

But this is by no means a done deal. With little over 350 chart units currently separate the two artists, so it's still all to play for as we enter the last few hours where things could all change, with the polls for the Official Albums Chart ending at midnight tonight.

Chatting to Official Charts earlier this week, Ren said that: "having a shot at Number 1 is the most mind-blowing thing ever. I've been working towards this since I was 12."

If he manages to hold on into tomorrow, Sick Boi would become Ren's first-ever Number 1 album in the UK, as well as his first album to ever chart inside the Official Albums Chart. He previously self-released a 2016 debut album, Freckled Angels, and a series of EPs; The Tale of Jenny & Screech (2019), Demos (Do Not Share) Volumes 1 & 2 (2020) and Violet's Tale (2022).

Meanwhile, Rick Astley is no stranger to success on the Official Charts. Of course, he topped the Official Singles Chart with one of the most enduring hits of the 80s, Never Gonna Give You Up, in 1987 for five weeks. He has previously claimed two UK Number 1 albums to boot; Whenever You Need Somebody (1987) and 50 (2016).

I wonder if Ren will hold the lowest charting position for a UK #1 rap album on the weekly albums streaming chart?

He's only at #35 on Apple Music currently.

Wonder if they reset Cruel Summer this week

i doubt it, especially so soon after it originally going to acr. but who knows they seem to make the rules up as they go lol

The release happening today for the UK will have zero effect this week due to Thursdays streams being an average of the rest of the week and so today's streams won't count for it to be able to get a reset (and I don't think it's been increasing enough through the week to get a reset otherwise?) The best that can happen for this is that the downloads for today will help move it up the charts again.

It's definitely only because she's predicted #1 in the US and it's quite close between her, Drake, SZA and Doja. This more or less seals the number 1 for her! If it officially does get #1, then she's had at least 1 #1 song from every era since the 'RED' era 11 years ago!

That live version of Cruel Summer <3 too bad Taylor only cares about the song when it has a chance at US #1

but not when it had a chance in the UK...

Taylor never really had much of a chance in the UK, though. Despite a #2 peak and all those weeks in the top 5 she was never that close to #1. When she was #2, there was a whole 25k between her and Doja at #1! Dave & Central Cee were always pretty far ahead when they were at #1 (still 21k ahead of Taylor in their final week at the top). The smallest gap I could see was Cruel Summer being 10.5k behind Dance the Night. Perhaps some CD singles could've made up that gap but she's not even doing that in the US, and a few downloads would not have made up a 10.5k gap here.
There's no way the release of a live version and an anonymous dance remix would boost the song's streams by 25% (even with a full week) but they could theoretically use it as an excuse to do a manual reset. I'd be surprised if they bothered though.
It had a good run and peaked at #2 and its streaming numbers have organically peaked now. Not sure what the point of chucking anything extra at it is now when the next re-recorded album is round the corner anyway.

I liked Cruel Summer better when it was an underrated gem, it’s beyond overplayed at this point, along with Shake It Off and Anti-Hero!

Please NO reset!

Tbf it's been an organic hit this is the first time they actually done anything other than send to radio
