October 29, 20232 yr It was reported in The Sun and whenever they report on midweek data it's usually correct so...
October 29, 20232 yr 139k at this stage would be incredible. I might have thought it was capable of that as a final sales tally for the whole week but not having cleared that already. :o
October 30, 20232 yr The opening (physical) sales will definitely be huge, it's her biggest album commercially and the most anticipated TV to date. People will buy the new version as a physical product to replace (or complete, depending on the view on her contract at the time) the old version in their collection. October 30, 20232 yr on the other hand, still amazed you can say Slut on radio but then Tiesto had to do the title change for Wasted/Naked :D
October 30, 20232 yr Still, can be and I do trust them. Such a shame she's selling only 2 colors of her Vinyl in the UK, so I'm not expecting the numbers to grow a lot, of course streaming and so will be great also. There’s only two available now, there’s been several more available earlier but just sold out over a short limited period. I’m sure everyone who wants one has at least one by now
October 30, 20232 yr That’s more than what Midnights did as that sold 131k at this point and you wouldn’t think that a TV album would sell this much. If it was a brand new album, then yeahI suspect that this won't be as consistently strong with it's sales through the week as much as a new album is, so I assume it'll probably end up falling short of 200k (still absolutely incredible sales though ofc!). I never expected a TV to pull this kind of number though, even if the original is as popular as this album is. I am ecstatic as the album is an all time favourite for me and I love the re-recordings. 'Reputation' and 'Taylor Swift' are next, I think 'Reputation' *may* break 100k but I will be surprised if her debut pulls in much more than what 'Fearless (TV)' did.
October 30, 20232 yr found this piece about the genesis of 1989 and it's incredible: The genesis of 1989 is, by now, well-documented. Taylor was up for Album of the Year at the 2014 Grammy's with Red. She ended up losing the gong to Daft Punk's Random Access Memories, and not winning any of the categories she was nominated for. Red, at that point, had been a big breakthrough moment for Tay; it was the record where a lot of the critics sat up and started to appreciate what she was doing. But to Taylor, something clearly hadn't clicked. Getting back to her hotel room that night, she speaks about the idea coming to her like some divine intervention. There it was, in a brilliant flash; Red was too scatter-shot sonically, it had used elements of country, arena-rock and pop without committing to any one lane (which is, admittedly, part of what makes Red such a good album, but who are we to argue with Taylor Swift?). Her next album would be different. It would be her first, official, fully pop record. It would be cohesive and sonically coherent. It would be called 1989, after the year of her birth, and be inspired by the music of that decade. Basically, Taylor Swift wanted to be a pop star. So, being Taylor Swift, she naturally didn't just become a pop star. She became the biggest, and best, pop star in the world.
October 30, 20232 yr 'Reputation' and 'Taylor Swift' are next, I think 'Reputation' *may* break 100k but I will be surprised if her debut pulls in much more than what 'Fearless (TV)' did. I wouldn't be suprised with the correct strategy debut out debuting fearless , its her most unknown, she arguably bigger than she was 2 years and when you look at the other 3 TV fearless really was done dirty in long run Edited October 30, 20232 yr by 777666jason
October 30, 20232 yr Yeah I think despite debut being her smallest album commercially, I think it’ll pull alright numbers cos she’s so huge currently. Fearless seems like a test run for the re-records with physicals came late and didn’t have music videos, I think it will have smallest sales cos she was seeing how it would go and to see if she should put them out as full eras or just release them as is. I reckon rep could do 100k, debut id predict 30-50k
October 30, 20232 yr There are 5 vinyl variants! The standard Crystal Skies Blue, Indies/HMV Exclusive Tangerine and then 3 limited edition alternate cover variants. The 3 alt cover ones aren't on her store anymore as they were originally only supposed to be available for a very limited amount of time but it looks like HMV are selling them now. There's also a huge 8 different CD variants :kink: (the 4 different covers/colours with a polaroid and the same set with a poster), so even more than Midnights in total! Might explain why it's sold more so far. Very useful info, cause i remember most peolple here making fun of Ed and Kylie for their variants that were no where close to that. Still impressive though how a boring mediocre singer can have such a following.

Anything Ed does on this site is bad, as much of a Taylor Stan as I am it's the same thing but that's just buzzjack for you, I am suprised that this one has had so many variants compared to the other TVs Edited October 30, 20232 yr by 777666jason
October 30, 20232 yr you might be mixing things Ed is the one for 99p signed+free shipping CD singles he never puts out many variants x albums, especially variants, he sells zero of those cos he doesn't have the mad fanbase that buys 19 vinyls and they know it, Ed's target is Karen who buys CDs a Tescos not the vinyl obsessed generation that buys 7 different color variants of the same album don't think anyone has critizised Ed for putting out too many variants cos he doesn't
October 30, 20232 yr Re the slut debate they also censor the word in Fairytale Of New York. Just realised that Amazon, which excludes songs with profanities from their list does include Slut, so looks like its not a problematic word anymore :D
October 30, 20232 yr Just realised that Amazon, which excludes songs with profanities from their list does include Slut, so looks like its not a problematic word anymore :D I think it’s to do with the context of it in the song. In FONY the male part calls the female part that word so it is intended to be rude. In Taylor’s song it’s about being called it and how in love she is it’s worth being called it for him

In Taylor’s song it’s about being called it and how in love she is it’s worth being called it for him I think there’s probably a bigger issue in FONY than the word S!ut
October 30, 20232 yr If the last two day's Spotify charts are anything to go by, the two biggest songs on Taylor's new album are "Is It Over Now" and "Now That We Don't Talk", neither of which were played by Radio 1 last night. What odds "Cruel Summer" overtaking "Slut" to take the third spot by the end of the week?
October 30, 20232 yr I think there’s probably a bigger issue in FONY than the word S!ut Of course but that has been addressed countless times before on here especially whereas the "slut" debate is an interesting discourse. I'm surprised myself that they apparently said it on the radio.
