March 17, 20242 yr Yep! The current holder is Oasis' 'All Around the World', which is 9:38. Thank you.
March 17, 20242 yr Last week with friday + saturday, Benson was ahead of Beyoncé on Spotify with only 20k streams. This week with friday + saturday, Benson is still ahead of Beyoncé on Spotify but this time it's with 236k streams ! I think Benson can do it.
March 17, 20242 yr So realistically what are the expectations for this charity single’s final chart position to be on Friday? Will it be lucky to stay top 40? Also feel the k-pop song will drop a lot too and probably not even stay top 20
March 17, 20242 yr With 1,000 sales ahead its not even going to be #1 tomorrow, Beyonce should easily re-take it. And the First Look Chart always throws the odd spanner in the works, its not worth moaning about if some members don't like it. But it would be nice to see a Instrumental track at #1 but in this case its not going to happen.
March 17, 20242 yr Benson should get it easily but I wouldn’t be surprised if Beyonce makes a video for Texas at some point
March 17, 20242 yr The last instrumental UK No 1 was Martin Garrix in November 2013 with Animals. Hero as Mark Knopfler is, this will not hang on to become the 31st UK instrumental No 1. If we were being uber strict I'd say 'Animals' is predominantly but not entirely instrumental as it has the immortal line "We're the f***8ng animals" in distorted vocals twice. For an entirely instrumental you'd have to go all the way back to Simon Patk Orchestra's 'Eye Level' in 1973 when even I was not alive! Quite a bop actually though.
March 17, 20242 yr Yep! The current holder is Oasis' 'All Around the World', which is 9:38. Isn’t “I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That)” longer at 12 minutes?
March 17, 20242 yr Isn’t “I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That)” longer at 12 minutes? The single version is 5:13, so I assume that's why it's not officially recognised. @1485592720651558916

Wouldn't Doop count as an instrumental #1 later than that? I mean I know someone is making the "doopdoopdoopdoopdoododoop" sound with their mouth but it's hardly lyrics.
March 18, 20242 yr So realistically what are the expectations for this charity single’s final chart position to be on Friday? Will it be lucky to stay top 40? I think it will fall harder than maybe it deserves to as it seems demand for the physicals has been underestimated - the CD and vinyl are sold out at HMV and independents and available in 1-3 weeks on Amazon. The CD/Blu-Ray edition sold out in 1 day on pre-order. Hopefully with some press interest that he’s nabbed first look #1 might encourage a few downloads and streams (which are minimal atm - 64k on Spotify since release).

I mean I know someone is making the "doopdoopdoopdoopdoododoop" sound with their mouth but it's hardly lyrics. What about 'Flat Beat' by Mr Oizo, that was even later than Doop? I think there's a sample of someone saying something right at the start of the song but then it's completely instrumental, so if you allow Doop then you should arguably allow Mr Oizo too.
March 18, 20242 yr ^Totally counts! from wiki: "Flat Beat" is an instrumental by French musician Mr. Oizo :D settled :D

March 18, 20242 yr I thought Nothing But Thieves had a new album out, is it just an extended version of last year's?
March 18, 20242 yr kacey :cheeseblock: would love to see her grab it! caity baser also playing the game well, 3 ltd edition signed cds, plus signings through the week. its a solid album but the highlights are defo the singles oop
March 18, 20242 yr I thought Nothing But Thieves had a new album out, is it just an extended version of last year's? Yeah, it’s a deluxe version.
March 18, 20242 yr Wow, even in this market (and this particular week), who'd have thought JT would've struggled for a no1 album?
March 18, 20242 yr That's pretty shocking for JT, really! Seems he/his label haven't gone down the multiple formats route which obviously will cost him massively. Think I'm right in saying 1 cd and 2 vinyls only and both double vinyls so closer to £40 each.
March 18, 20242 yr Caity Baser should have put her remix of Campbell and Alchemist's Would You... on the album, drum and bass suits her. I like Wherever I Lay My Hat and Come Back and Stay from the Paul Young album, both great 80s hits.
