May 16, 20241 yr I think "Espresso" will end up overtaking "I Had Some Help" by Friday. If we added the missing data it's already ahead Edited May 16, 20241 yr by Liam sota
May 16, 20241 yr I ordered the Dizzy CD single and it was just dispatched yesterday, so hopefully Olly’s physicals were yet to be added in the most recent update. Not that I expect him to shift very many of them, but a lot of UK Eurovision fans like to get the physical singles when available.
May 16, 20241 yr Even though I’m not a fan of Dizzy it would be nice if it could hold Top 40, and a couple of thousand physicals should do the trick.
May 16, 20241 yr They're buying the physical album to manipulate the chart in many instances - see BTS. The easiest way to crack down on that is to stop counting physicals. vinyl and cds and especially cassettes are just not the way music is consumed these days. They're an anachronism and should be treated as such. This is ridiculous  if people want to buy a physical copy, it should count towards the chart - regardless of the reason people have bought it. It's far more valid than autoplay streams and blanket streaming visibility, for example. :P Also, not everyone buys physicals solely for collectible purposes.
May 16, 20241 yr plus that was not what BTS fans were doing, 1000% the opposite BTS were multibuying downloads of singles, so nothing to do with albums and nothing to do with physicals
May 16, 20241 yr Curious to see if Olly's last minute physicals can get him into the top 40. I hope he doesn't beat his existing peak only to land at #41!
May 16, 20241 yr My espresso cd single has just arrived, so looks like those sales will be securing Sabrina a 3rc eeek for definite! Strange how the cd I ordered on Tuesday is here yet the cassette single I ordered in April is nowhere to be found though :kink:
May 16, 20241 yr Why should our physical copies that we paid for not count towards the charts? If I want to buy one variant, I'll buy one variant. If I want to buy the other 20 variants, I'll buy the other 20. But I fully expect that my money purchasing these items would count to the charts for as long as physical products exist! Saying physical products shouldn't count towards the chart but FREE streams and artificially inflated streams (whether it's the made up Thursday streams or inflated due to being flavour of the week on auto play) is actually absurd.

They're an anachronism and should be treated as such. This is quite possibly the worst opinion I’ve ever read on this site, and that’s saying something. “I don’t like it so it shouldn’t count” Also the people who care about music enough to “manipulate” the charts are practically the only ones left with any interest even keeping the chart alive, so manipulate away I say Edited May 16, 20241 yr by No Sleeep
May 16, 20241 yr Buzzjack chart fans: Physical sales, downloads and streaming shouldn't be allowed in the charts! The charts:
May 16, 20241 yr  Although in truth, all these clashing opinions does go to show that the chart has lost its true meaning somewhat compared to the old days. There's nothing we can do about that though, we just have to accept it for what it is now.
May 16, 20241 yr All of those should be included of course, us chart watchers can always argue whether the chart success is "deserved" or not, it's part of the fun.
May 16, 20241 yr I reckon they should do what they do for the cinema charts and base the positions on point-of-sale/stream revenue, not made up 'sales' based on streams or the 13 different versions of ABBA Voyage I bought in 2021 etc. Yes, there'll be manipulation etc. but this could be an option, no? May 17, 20241 yr Is Ren likely to make the top 100 based on his iTunes performance? (#1 debut, stayed top 45 til last night and then up to #18)?
May 17, 20241 yr iTunes sales alone count for incredibly little these days. It's only really relevant when there's a big charity release or a very slim gap in streaming at the top.
