Tessa's makeover and their runway performance together was my personal favourite.

 

Saw a comment on reddit that really resonated - the judges' comments are acting like this is a first season for most of the queens and like Alyssa, Kong and Kitty are special guest mentors or somthing. The comments they made to Soa about her makeup 'finally' looking good were not comments that should be made to someone who already nearly won her first season...

I agree! They have dwelled a lot on particularly with Kitty where they did well but fell short of winning, like they deserve to finally get that win over anyone else just because of that. Soa in particular I feel could have so easily won her season out of everyone, and they’re paying these amazing queens who are among the best of their franchises dust, in favour of frankly not even the top 5 UK/US/Aus I’d choose (I can think of literally 15-20 UK girls I’d choose before Kitty). And Nehellenia could have won pretty much any other season she was on, she was against one of the most dominant winners of any season on Italia 2.

 

Is it a coincidence that Alyssa doesn’t seem to post much about this season? Odd no :unsure:

I think she doesn’t give a f*** tbh, I’d honestly not even be surprised if it was just in her contract she would win or be in the final. I definitely think that she at least has a contract to not get negative critiques as she has deserved bottom a good 4 times by now. I’ve enjoyed her presence tbh, but she hasn’t had that hunger to win you should have for a returning queen, like say Roxxxy on AS9. She’s just there to get the cheque to be honest :lol:

Finally catching up on this. Tessa and Nehellenia were absolutely brilliant this week, those makeover looks were excellent. Kween trying to come so hard for Nelly/Pythia in untucked was the most embarrassing thing I've ever seen, like girl sit the f*** down. Kween has shown herself to be nothing short of totally vile this entire season along with Kitty.

 

Kitty still on the same basic, boring, unfunny trajectory into the top 4, I see. No idea what they found so hilarious about her in that lip sync because it was tired and the same shit she does all the time.

Not sure Kitty has been totally vile, most of her quips seem quite obviously shady/what you'd expect from a queen. Kween, however, I've not seen a single person that shares that opinion. She's just coming across as plain nasty.

Also, what was so special about Kitty's death drop :lol: surely production took RuPaul's laugh from another scene for it.

Amusingly, eagle-eyed viewers can see at 1.16 the editors have edited in audio of Kween saying "I apologize" to Nelly over whatever it was she actually said at that moment...

Kitty’s dip was giving Ma’Ma Queen in the Stronger lipsync

Alyssa absolutely didn’t win that challenge and Kween most definitely didn’t win that lipsync. No matter what those two did I feel like they were gonna be in the final. I know that Vanity and Tessa have worse track records than Kween and Kitty but there is no point in lipsyncs if they are just going to keep whoever.

 

My top 4 in my judging has actually ended up being Nelly, Pythia, Kween and Tessa. Tessa hasn’t done outstanding but I don’t think there’s any challenge where she deserved bottom 2 really other than this one and she outdid Kween. However in my judging I had vanity still here and Kween sent her home, I thought Tessa’s ad was fine if not the best. I also think it would have been iconic if she was a finalist after being an early out on her season and the only queen on this cast not to be a finalist on her original season.

 

I have Nelly (makeover, advert and girl groups) and Pythia (acting, Snatch and Ball) with 3 wins and Kween (Roast) and Tessa (design) with one win, Kween has been top worthy for a lot of the season but didn’t deserve a couple of her wins imo. Honestly as much as Alyssa has been a lovely presence, in a way I think I’d take Kitty winning over her, at least she has done well in the challenges.

 

At this point I think it’s in Alyssa’s contract that she’d only do it if she won or at the very least never got put in the bottom. Based on her actual run, I think she would be probably the least deserving winner of any Drag Race season. The talent show and maaaaybe the Ball and this advert are the only times she was above average in any of the challenges and she deserved bottom about 5 times.

I didn't think Alyssa won at all. In fact I thought she would be bottom with Tessa... I thought Kitty's was the best/should've won. With Nelly top and Kween safe.

 

I did think the lip sync was quite good! Probably the best of the season in terms of both queens doing well. I thought Tessa did better than Kween though.

 

I'm not really sure who is going to win the season. I could see them crowning Alyssa if she does do well in the final. Given the online reactions and such I doubt Kween will be crowned the winner.

 

I think it'll likely be Kitty vs Alyssa for the crown unless Nelly destroys the final episode.

I completely lost the will to finish this season since the spoilers completely matched the reality and we ended up with Kitty/Alyssa/Kween forced by production into the top 4. At least Nehellenia is still doing well, I hope she somehow manages to win.

 

Incredibly underwhelming and sad execution of such a promising concept.

I was feeling more hopeful but as I feared from spoilers, they’ve basically framed Alyssa’s win in the branding challenge as a victory lap. They’ve kind of ignored the fact she’s bombed half the competition and acted like she’s had loads of momentum and ended it with a win at the end to go into the final strong, I think if they wanted to crown Nelly they would have given her the win there.

 

I’m just hoping maybe the fan reception sways it and they maybe did this thinking people would only care about the Ru girls but I don’t think they care about the fan reception that much unless it’s a Down Under 1 situation but obviously Alyssa hasn’t done anything and the fans still like her she’s just been shit at the challenges :lol:

Probably my favourite episode this week. Soa just shone so bright! Loved her :wub:

 

Her lip sync vs Athena was my favourite of the season and her final lip sync vs Gala was so good too. I just love the way Soa moves.

 

And as much as I love Gala I wish she cleaned up some of her tricks (and secured her wig tight) - they can be a bit messy. If she did that she would be such an unstoppable force. I also thought Eva beat her in the lip sync as it was clear she didn't know the words.

 

It was really nice for all the queens to come together and be supportive of one another and the various ESL queens get mini-redemptions with their lip syncs.

The fact Alyssa's TR in this season is comparable to Bianca's in season 6 is pretty ridiculous given how she actually performed

WIN-HIGH-BTM2-LOW-LOW-BTM2-SAFE-ELIM for me, not to mention the girl group bottom 2 I truly think Miranda could have fairly beat her to Spice Up Your Life and the high for ball is even a bit of a stretch given her last design look.

 

ELIM in the makeover where she wasn’t that bad really but I had Kitty gone by that point (she was actually first out in the ball) and Pythia, Tessa, Nelly, Vanity and Kween, and none of the others deserved bottom with vanity (Pythia would do amazing in the makeover and easily challenge Nelly).

Alyssa is for my money the weakest winner the show has ever had, based on this run. But that didn’t matter a jot to production, they were going to crown her no matter what and I had that feeling since the second I saw the tea she was in the finale (and since she was cast really but early tea didn’t have her make the finale, I wish desperately that was the real outcome). Meh. I know we’re saying it and saying it but what was even the point of getting all these queens, the best of their franchises (and Kitty Scott-Claus) and then crowning someone who has always been frankly terrible at Drag Race just because she is from the original franchise and is a “legend”.

 

She was a lovely encouraging presence on the season in one where fhe international girls got paid dust, but she was terrible at half or more of the challenges, and only won because of who she is. I truly believe it was contracted for her idc. It makes no sense narratively, she did the worst by far out of the top 4 and some episodes you could almost forget she’s there :lol:

I honestly believe the rumour Kween was to win was true based on the edit they gave her this episode. Thankful she didn't as she did the worst in the episode and they likely didn't want to risk upsetting the fans further.

 

Disappointed with Alyssa winning.

 

I honestly thought Kitty & Nelly did the best in the finale and would've been happy with either winning or a joint win.

 

Omg I just can't at them painting Kween as if she'd been some kind of saint for the whole season in this episode. 😂😂

 

I'd argue that Kween performed the best this season. But Nelly ran her VERY close, and baring in mind there is a language barrier there for her, I'd say Nelly deserved to win the season (imo).

 

Kitty did well, but I'd have Vanity seriously did not lose that lipsync (and really shouldn't have needed to lipsync as often as she did...). I'd have had a Kween, Nelly, Tessa, Vanity final personally...

Love Alyssa but this was not her season. I don't really understand the point of Global All Stars if you're just going to crown a legend from the original American franchise that doesn't need the title (nor the money) — especially if they didn't deserve it. Outside of her runway looks (not her design challenge looks) she was stronger in All Stars 2. I'll take her over Kween or Kitty though. Bleak.

 

This needs to be binned, or they need to figure out how to incorporate ESL queens more fairly. I think we would have all much preferred an Olympics-style season with medals etc — something celebratory without being a circle jerk like All Stars 9. A more international judging panel wouldn't hurt.

I agree, they could have Ru, and then some combo of Ana Locking, Chiara Francini, Supremme, Priscilla, Pangina, Grag Queen… there’s so many franchises that they could easily make up a strong international panel so that the queens are judged fairly with a more rounded view of drag, not what a bunch of Americans feel Drag Race is or should be.

 

The challenges I think also didn’t help, why are they making ESL queens do Snatch Game followed by a roast?! Thailand season 2 was in Thai and had non Thai speaking queens and still felt fairer than GAS did at any point :lol: It should be more looks and performance based to limit the language barrier, I mean fine have Snatch Game that’s a hallmark of Drag Race, but don’t then have a roast and branding as well clumped in the same few episodes. Any queen who struggled a bit with English and isn’t hot on comedy was never going to make the final with this as the run of challenges. Or maybe if they do want to pay homage to the fact that celebrity impersonation has always been a huge part of drag, do a Rusical like the Super Bowl one from AS6, so the queens can do a performance and there isn’t that language barrier disadvantage stacking against the odds against them. There are so many easy things they could have done to even the playing field and make it feel like a celebration of the types of drag the world has to offer, instead of being a victory lap for a “legend” they always wanted to crown with some pity appearances from the lowly “other” queens :drama:

 

Honestly I’d rather Kween won, at least she did well at the challenges. Alyssa was abysmal at girl groups, Snatch Game and design, average at the makeover and acting (and that’s been kind on the latter) and just about good on the roast. There was absoltuely no point when the second she was cast they knew they’d crown her no matter what. If she did bad enough to be in the bottom, just put her safe and dont even critique it or acknowledge the fact she was bad.
