CHART BATTLE REWIND

First chart battle from 2004 now, revisiting the week where The Shapeshifters released their debut single Lola's Theme as newly solo Rachel Stevens released her Sports Relief single Some Girls. The Shapeshifters came out on top, earning their first and only #1, while Rachel lost her last real chance of ever getting a solo chart topper. On the bright side, she managed to avoid one-hit-wonder status with Some Girls and scored another top 3 hit afterwards!

Which is your number one? Vote above. teresa

  • Apparently she locked herself in a car after 'Some Girls' was given to Rachel Stevens instead of her - whatever happened, this incident was the inspiration behind the lyrics of the song 'Me Plus One'

Both great tracks but the best song did win this battle imo, although Rachel won the battle of opening Now 58 over Lola’s Theme, which is one of my favourite house tracks ever! But Me Plus One is so

Mess how didn't I know about this!! Also never knew she was eyeing the song up! I don't blame her if it was between that or Ride It.

Going for Rachel here. I've never really been a fan of Lola's Theme whereas I was a total sucker for Some Girls at the time. :WAP:

Love that a poll featuring 'Some Girls' is the follow-up to one involving Geri, with the iconic locking herself in a car lore.

I actually love both of these (I'm a sucker for Richard X) but 'Lola's Theme' has the edge. My go-to song whenever the sun comes out!

But Me Plus One is so iconic for referencing poor Geri’s fate with Some Girls 😆

I'm actually not a big fan of either of them. Both of them kind of annoy me for different reasons lol

I thought Rachel had already had a hit with Sweet Dreams My LA Ex by then?

'Me Plus One' is such a pop classic — well, all of 'Anniemal' is really

'Some Girls' easily for me. Richard X!

'Lola's Theme' was more deserving, though, and has stood the test of time to become a proper classic
