Pleased for Kylie, glad the monotony has been broken and happy we avoided the first ever sub 50k Christmas #1!

What a week for me..I successfully avoided hearing that awful Mariah Carey song all week, The Swift push that someone was falsely saying was happening never did, and Kylie Number 1!!! It's like the music gods said "Here are your 3 wishes, enjoy it, now rack off until next year and leave me alone" lol

Tbf the swift push was supposed to be next week from the 19th, someone did say the christmas vinyls were released early though , but I've still not seen a mention of the supposed video or remixes

So happy kylie is number 1 , well deserved, amazing achievement ❤️ proving shes the undisputed Queen of Pop.

Finished listening to the chart on catchup - really happy to see Together for Palestine keep their position in the Top 5, I've not massively been following sales trends but feared they would slip during the week, glad that wasn't the case.

And of course good to see a different Christmas #1 as opposed to the same one for the third year in a row! 'XMAS' is pleasant enough, I'd happily listen to it again even if it isn't the most immediately catchy Christmas track.

It is nice that Kylie has another #1 hit. This is a welcome change to previous years. I just can't wait for all the old christmas songs to leave and hope for fresh music in January. December is a mess for new music, because it is mainly only christmas songs that get released and I am desperately wwaiting for fresh stuff.

I find it quite impressive that "Raindance" is best non-christmas song, so this may be #1 when the christmas songs are leaving.

Unlikely. Whilst it is the top non-Xmas song this week, Taylor Swift and Raye are near-guaranteed to be granted SCR resets in the new year.

Blame the playlists!! We are robbed of newish songs like Christmas Lights, songs from Home Alone, Darlene Love, One More Sleep, Slade, and Can't Be Christmas. Instead, we get things like Justin Timberlake's Mistletoe and old, Ameeican crooner songs... What have they got to do with modern day UK?!

I slept through most of the chart show, so I've only just caught up over the past hour or two.

As I said before, I Should Be So Lucky is one of the first megahits I remember and Kylie is one of two acts from that time who have stayed around and not had a huge drop in quality since, the other being the Pet Shop Boys, but I don't think they're getting another Christmas #1 somehow.

And the only reason almost all her singles from the past 15 years haven't been all over that station with a '1' in its name is her age.

Music's Too Sad Without You sounded a bit old admittedly.

I was almost crying in my car listening to the show before the chart show and hearing them and their listeners talk positively about XMAS.

As someone suggested if she just did a vinyl or cd release for it would be enough, I don't know whether it's because it's essentially from the lover era, and she likes to say the albums are about what she feeling at the time, hence it gets left behind, saying that she never did anything with the holiday collection beyond release year
