The thing is yes sabrina fans will be checking it out, but it's essentially a Madonna song, and she has the lead credit its going to get less casual streams than it would do if it was a Sabrina song with Madonna credited as a feature

I agree with this - in these scenarios I think it's always best to judge it by the lead artist's standards and not the feature's. Bring Your Love has undoubtedly been doing better because of Sabrina's presence on the song than it would be doing without her, and I think judging it against Sabrina's own music wouldn't feel fair because that's basically a different playing field.

Thats due to their lack of rules on their main chart, but if the OCC did it, it would clean our chart up a little

If there's an issue with the ARIA Chart, it's that the lowered threshold for charting hasn't been matched by an increase in scrutiny on the data being given. Labels seem disinterested in chucking in new entries onto the survey if they aren't doing something out the gate so the chart is just littered with missing songs, and a widened berth that means the songs that are charting just don't move around much anymore. Justin Bieber & Dominic Fike have songs that never made the top 50 before being excluded from the chart because no one cares enough to include them. That Bebe Rexha/Faithless track only just got put on the survey a couple weeks ago, and that's the tip of the iceberg.

In general though I just don't think music consumption habits match the funky parabolas or exciting entry based on perceived likeability that they used to, and no amount of chart tinkering will be able to get around that fact. It's all just steps towards making a chart like Aotearoa's Hot Singles chart, which is not an end goal to aspire to, even if you like the idea of 30+ new entries a week.

I've recently got back into using Deezer again, something I hadn't used since university, but I had an offer. The sound quality is so much better on it too. I thought I'd post today's chart, though I'd imagine the streaming usage skew % wise is minimal compared to a lot of other services.

Shame not many songs from MJ’s (incredible) Off The Wall are appearing.

Likewise frustrating that ‘Human Nature’ is unlikely to chart. I’m assuming that as it is more than 3 years old, even if it is reset, it will go back on to ACR at the same time as Michael Jackson’s other tracks - and even though it is far ahead of his 5th track - and doing really well on Apple - it looks like it will remain far behind his top 3 tracks on Spotify.

Katy almost Top50 in UK, Top20 globally, Call Me Maybe re-entering in UK and debuting in the global chart... What a time to be alive 🤩😂

I'm so happy to see 'The One That Got Away' get this kind of resurgence. It has always been my favourite Katy song! Just gorgeous and it's annoying that it was the only one (?) from 'Teenage Dream' not to make number 1 in the US! Is it doing this well due to the Director's Cut being released a couple of weeks ago? Or is it another Tik Tok trend for the song that seems to have just taken off even more?

+JB revival, it's very apparent that early 10s is in fashion right now.

I would say it's a bit viral on tik tok but in general Katys numbers are increasing a lot, Last Friday Night is also on the global chart and getting new peaks, a lot of her songs like Hot N Cold, California Gurls etc are getting their biggest streaming days, Legendary Lovers is viral on tik tok and is nearing 1 million daily streams on Spotify, I would say that is a mixture of everything. It also seems that we are on a throwback time with a lot of 2010s songs getting a lot of success!

Billie Jean is only behind RMI on spotify, apple when taking out songs on acr, above them on YT. So top 3 for MJ incoming?

Its a shame its a TD revival for Katy and noone cares about anything she has released in the last 5 to 10 years 😅

Urgh, I really want Human Nature to chart top 40 for the first time.

It’s been a hot minute since an R&B song by a British artist took off.

Rooting for this.
