Yesterday at 20:111 day I’m a bit meh on this one, to be honest I can’t even remember how it goes. The only Ashanti song I can recall is Foolish. Aside from a few collaborations that is.
Yesterday at 21:171 day Ashanti - Only U has interesting 'rock guitar' style production. I only discovered the song after Chase and Status sampled it in 'Selecta' ft. Stefflon Don (and it sounds very much like C&S's early guitar based sound).I prefer Ashanti's song 'Foolish' because of the lovely piano in it.2 hours ago, Viper* said:I don't know what it is with her and her music, but just all of it just has such little impact on me.Like, I find none of it to be absolutely terrible but none of it stands out or is memorable either, it just kind of... exists.Meh.I am guessing you didn't like the Aitch revival of 'Rok Wit U (Aww Baby)' in 2022 either. Thought it was a nice summery track.

11 hours ago11 hr I know this is rather late, but concerning that Christina Aguilera one, apparently if she had her way then 'So Emotional' would have been the 2nd single, glad that didn't happen as that is basically just 4 minutes of vocal runs and ab-libs, and doubt it would have performed as well as 'What A Girl Wants' did.Ashlee Simpson - Pieces of Me - Great song and still to this day remains her best song. Shame that SNL performance tanked her career. Also think that 'Autobiography' should have followed this instead of 'Shadow' & 'La La'.Dannii Minogue - You Won't Forget About Me - Again a solid track, but don't its as amazing as many others think, it doesn't quite reach the heights of her 'Neon Nights' singles.Jennifer Lopez - Play - The perfect follow up to 'Love Don't Cost A Thing' & still stands as one of JLO's strongest singles to date.Ashanti - Only U - This is fine, but never been a huge fan of Ashanti, her stuff never quite clicked with me. Very overrated in the US where she was treated like the second coming, but over here in the UK, she never quite reached those heights, despite scoring a few decent sized hits.
4 hours ago4 hr Author 11 Nina Sky - Move Ya Body (feat. Jabba)avg: 7.42👑 Pop Royalty: 10 (Dobbo, jimwatts, ...ready for it, Doug, Nina West, leww), 9 (RyanFM)❌ Pop Flop: 4 (Paddington James), 5 (777666jason, Lukuzz, Billy.)'Move Ya Body' just misses out on a top 10 position in this rate, with a jump in average to 7.42.Nina Sky comprises of identical twins Nicole and Natalie Albino. So the All Saints ladies aren't the only Nicole and Natalie sisters in the business! The girls were born in Puerto Rico and had an early knack for music after growing up around their DJ step-father. The first song they ever composed as kids was of course named 'Sisters'. Their sisterhood also influenced their group name, as Nina is a combination of the first two letters of both of their names and 'Sky' represents "independent twins" to them. In 2003 the girls were introduced to hip-hop DJ Cipha Sounds who was impressed when he heard them sing. He suggested they compose a song using the "coolie dance" riddim so they wrote 'Move Ya Body' in response to this challenge, alongside Elijah Wells and Lionel Bermingham, who also produced the song. American-Jamacian DJ Jabba joined the party as a featured artist. The aforementioned "coolie dance" riddim can be heard through the repetitive bongo motif in 'Move Ya Body'. This dancehall track also contains lyrics from 'Can You Feel the Beat' by Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam.'Move Ya Body' was a big hit across both sides of the pond as it charted at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #6 in the U.K. chart. The All Saints connections continue as Shaznay Lewis debuted in the top 10 with 'Never Felt Like This Before' during the same week as 'Move Ya Body', at #8. Elvis' 'That's All Right' (#3) and Will Young's 'Friday's Child' (#4) were the new entries above Nina Sky. The girls spent three weeks in the top 10 with a 6-8-9 descent. They remain one hit wonders in the U.K. chart to this day so Jabba's "get used to that group" opener didn't age too well.I'm sure Dobbo, jimwatts, ...ready for it, Doug, Nina West and leww would happily move their bodies to this as they all gave Nina Sky a score of 10. Meanwhile, Paddington James was less keen to ride this beat and contributed its lowest score of 4.
3 hours ago3 hr Glad 'Move Ya Body' made the top half in this rate! One of the more distinctive sounding pop hits of 2004. 'Breathe In' is the only other loss so far that I care much for - as I've noted before, Lucie seemed to have so much potential, but couldn't sustain the momentum 'What You're Made Of' and this one had established.I'm also pleased a certain song has made the top 10 despite picking up a lot of very low-to-middling scores!
1 hour ago1 hr I don't mind the original version, but the only time I've heard this in the last few years it seems to be mashed up with 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody' and it really annoys me. Whatever happened to them after this?
50 minutes ago50 min Always quite enjoyed Move Ya Body but was never obsessed with it. Probably about right in the ranking for me. Only U is probably my favourite Ashanti song but it’s still nothing great. 🫢
