It didnt bomb - I know it ‘only’ peaked at #21 but it’s gone triple platinum in the UK, looking at its current certifications the UK is where it’s sold the most.

I did mean at the time tbf. But it did seem like Shakira couldn’t get arrested in the UK charts for most of the 2010s

Sure, that's fine, I don't have a horse in that race, but you're positing Sam Fender and/or his team complaining to the OCC to prevent it from happening. Seems like an attack on character based on spe

I might be interested in football if there is a chance of Wonderwall finally getting to number 1!

Deserves it. Their best-selling single yet only a No.2.

Means nothing they had an 83 percent chance of beating Ghana and that was a draw

What a criminal and she only just got out of trouble with the Spanish authorities for tax evasion.

'Wonderwall' probably didn't deserve to be blocked by Robson & Jerome, but if we're really going to right a chart injustice in that regard can't we get 'Common People' there instead?!

That or Bitter Sweet Symphony (which has already been co-opted as a football song anyway!) over Wonderwall any day.

Or the injustice of mr brightside being blocked by 9 other songs , yet gone on to be more successful than all of them probably combined

Brandon Flowers is in the UK atm promoting his new solo album - on one of his interviews they spoke about Mr Brightside, surely the label can claim that as active promotion for a reset 🤣

I’d love that, but we actually have a chance with Wonderwall….

Yes, as per post 1

Reason enough for Wonderwall to now get to the top.

Not an Oasis fan, but that kind of classic being blocked from the top by some karaoke torture is ridiculous.

Like Vienna being held at #2 because of Shaddupa Your Face.

And by John Lennon's Woman for its first week at number two.

It didn't even feel like the biggest Killers song back then, especially once Somebody Told Me got to #3 - I'd have put it below that and even All These Things That I've Done, with its I've-got-soul-but-I'm-not-a-soldier hook. End of the 00s/beginning of the 10s was probably when I noticed that Brightside was being played more than anything else they'd done.

Those other top 40 weeks after that first run came in December 2013/January 2014 (maybe the tail end of the 'iTunes gift card effect' era there) and randomly the first week of January 2024, by which time it was a pretty permanent fixture in the lower end of the top 75 but not sure what made it get to as high as #31 as recently as two and a half years ago - just the effect of all the Christmas songs leaving the chart?
