Depend what sort of 'wall of noise' it is, it was a term used in the 60s to describe some Phil Spector songs.

Also in the early 70s Wizzard had a wall of noise technique with loads of instruments all playing, including in their Christmas song.

and then in the 00s and 10s there was trance/EDM wall of noise too.

And then there's just noise music which I am guessing is the one Colm chose.

Spector invented the wall of sound which many found more palatable than the wall of noise which came afterwards 😁

I'm confused about the trance wall of noise. Did that happen? 🤔🧐

the buildup part of Tiesto Adagio For Strings?

maybe I am just confusing it with wall of sound.

The LONGEST discussion cheeseblock

It still somehow doesn't feel right that Rolloland are not part of the discussion having graced us with multiple long songs over many years and doing it so well too. They are the example we all strive to live up to.

Ahhhh so I forgot all about this after being distracted by a few other things this week. No time for finding anything competitive so, in the spirit of recent discussion, I've had a quick through my to watch list on youtube, skipping ahead through the tracks rather than listening properly.

I've been keeping an eye on the discussion. Maybe the quality of long songs has declined since the Rolloland era. We did sneak into a BJSC spinoff earlier this year and won it with a nine minute song so there is clearly still a demand here for high quality long songs. Everybody, don't be put off continuing to enter long songs to the contest. If some entrants don't want to listen to them all the way through, then they are missing out.

Speaking of Rolloland, this is still fantastic.

Just find the longest video and put that in your form

In the spirit of mutual understanding, is this noise?

It's the same 2 notes for 6 minutes but then takes off.

Some more clashes in the last few hours might just add some more discussion so bare with us trying to get this turned around as quickly as we can between four people all at work x

A quick skim through tells me it is, but not in the same painful way as the ones I've heard before.

I wouldn't give it points, but I probably wouldn't switch this off if it was on in the background.

Your songs have their market, it's just not me!

I have given you votes in the past too, so maybe I'll enjoy one sometime soon again?
